There will probably come a time when Mercedes->ke187 vehicles will look like this. That time hasn't come yet, and we're not really sweating t too much, especially when there are things like Gran Turismo that can give us glimpses of what the future could look like.

To this point, BMW and Mercedes have unveiled their Vision Gran Turismo Concepts. But Mercedes isn't content with just one iteration of its concept; nope, it actually has two of these concepts and the latest is the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series.

According to Mercedes, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series was designed to compete in Gran Turismo 6's "competitive racing scene." That's all well and good and the concept looks really incredible. It's also slightly modified from the "standard" Mercedes Vision Gran Turismo Concept to fit its racing credentials, including the addition of a a fixed rear wing that improves downforce on high-speed circuits and conventional mirrors in place of the CCS cameras the original concept had.

As far as performance goes, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series is powered by a 5.5-liter, twin-turbo, V-8 engine that produces an impressive 591 horsepower and connected to a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission. No performance numbers were given, but seeing as the car only weighs 2,866 pounds, it should be good for at least 200 mph.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series is now available on Gran Turismo 6, and you can acquire it by participating in a new seasonal event that's available in the game.

2013 Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept

Mercedes built the Vision Gran Turismo as a concept car specially developed for Gran Turismo 6. It was unveiled at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show->ke211 and apparently it created quite a buzz in the automotive world.

The concept features an aggressive design language with elements inspired by the 1952 300 SL race car and an interior with F1 elements. It also gets a powerful AMG engine and an exhaust system with eight end pipes. No details were released on the engine output, but it should be close to the 591 horsepower the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series is producing.

Mercedes is one of several makers that will develop special concept cars for GT6. According to Polyphony Digital — the developer of the Gran Turismo franchise — we will see the same thing from Alfa Romeo , Alpine, Aston Martin , Audi , BMW , Bertone , GM Design, Honda , Infiniti , Italdesign Giugiaro, JORDAN Brand, Mercedes-Benz , Nike, Nissan , Peugeot , SRT (Chrysler), Volkswagen and Zagato .
