With a sleek, muscular appearance, and 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of twist at its disposal, the Mercedes-Benz CLA250 is far from being unattractive. Sure, it's not as powerful and mean-looking as the CLA45 AMG, but if you're aiming for something a bit more special and can't afford the range-topping model, than the company's brand-new Sport Package Plus is an option you should consider.

Transferred from Europe where it was launched under the Sport moniker last year, the Sport Package Plus comes to enhance the visuals and some of the internal bits of the U.S.-spec Mercedes->ke187-Benz CLA250. A new front bumper, red contrasts inside and out, new wheels, new sports seats, and AMG-prepped front axle and suspension highlight this compelling package. It brings a bit of CLA45 AMG-like handling to the base CLA250 and adds a touch of sportiness to its body and cabin without overdoing it.

It's available on both the front-wheel-drive and 4MATIC versions, and goes on sale later this year. In the meantime, let's have a look at all the details surrounding this new bundle.

Mercedes-Benz CLA250 Sport Package Plus in detail

The first thing that catches the eye when looking at the CLA250 Sport Package Plus is the AMG-sourced front bumper. Similar to the one fitted on the CLA45 AMG, the piece includes a front splitter that blends perfectly with the more aggressive apron configuration. Adding a dash of color to the front fascia is a red stripe adorning the lower area of the bumper. On the flip side, the rear bumper remained unchanged, except for the red-painted trim inserted above the diffuser. Rounding off the exterior is a set of bespoke, five-spoke, 18-inch AMG wheels.

Although the drivetrain doesn't benefit from any improvements, the Sport Package Plus enhances the four-door coupe's dynamics with two important upgrades. The stock front axle has been ditched in favor of an AMG-developed shaft, while the suspension has been updated to AMG specifications all around. The new setup will enable the CLA250 to serve its driver in a more dynamic manner at high speeds. Additionally, a "more aggressive exhaust setup" will enable the 2.0-liter four-banger to deliver a deeper note under full throttle.

Upgrades continue inside with a pair of sports seats wrapped in TEX/DINAMICA (Mercedes talk for high-quality vinyl) and highlighted by red contrast stitching. The floor mats are also new and feature the same red stitching on the edges and a "Sport" logo. Other than that, the cabin is standard CLA250. Pricing for the Sport Package Plus option has yet to be announced, but expect it to carry a premium of more than $2,000. The front-wheel drive CLA250 starts at $30,915 including shipping, while the 4MATIC model retails from $32,915.
