As special edition-models go, Mercedes-Benz->ke187 has proven that it's more than capable of thinking outside of the bow with the arrival of a pair of special edition Merc models at the Geneva Motor Show->ke228.

One of these two models is called the SLK->ke1683 CarbonLOOK Edition, a surprisingly confusing name for an otherwise incredible car.

Notwithstanding that little peculiarity about this dark reaper of the night, the SLK CarbonLOOK Edition features a wide range of upgrades to the body, interior and performance, although that last part doesn't come with any boost in engine output.

Be that as it may, the SLK CarbonLOOK Edition lives up to its name as a real-looker, if only for the fact that all that black on a sports roadster->ke1418 makes it looks so spine-tingly...evil.

The SLK CarbonLOOK Edition is available for a variety of models, including the SLK 200, SLK 250, SLK 350 and SLK 250 CDI at an extra cost of anywhere between €6,426 and €6,902 euros (incl. VAT), depending on the variant. Based on current conversions, that equates to around $8,820 to $9,500.

Mercedes-Benz SLK CarbonLOOK Edition in Detail

It's hard not to get caught up in all that stealthy black color of the SLK CarbonLOOK Edition and think how can an SLK look any cooler than this. The short answer is that it's going to be very difficult to top this bad-boy, especially if it comes with the kind of AMG body styling that features a more muscular front apron, striking side sill panels, and an equally imposing rear apron.

Combine those components with new headlamps with dark surrounds and exclusive roll-over bars with anodized aluminum inserts, and you have the makings of a truly irrepressible SLK brimming with all loads of attitude.

Rounding out the changes is a "CarbonLOOK" badge in the mirror triangle that stamps the exclusive authenticity of this model, and a set of AMG five-spoke, light-alloy wheels painted in titanium grey.

Just like the exterior of SLK CarbonLOOK Edition, one look at the interior and it becomes evident that going inside is tantamount to entering the dark side. The two-tone upholstery in black Nappa leather and designo titanium grey pearl washes you a way in a pool of darkness that only gets a jolted reprieve in the form of the lime green piping on the sports seats and the door center panels.

Even the head restraints' embossed carbon-fiber adds a dynamic look to the cabin, while the AMG trim in high-quality, genuine carbon fiber, and velour floor mats with edging in lime green and "Edition" logo underscore the true sporty characteristic of the SLK CarbonLOOK.

To make the sports car handle better than a standard version of the SLK, Mercedes fitted a new sports suspension that's been lowered by 10 mm (0.39 inches). Four-cylinder models get the added benefit of a larger brake system and perforated rotors on the front.
