The Mercedes CLS-Class->ke539 is a perfect example of a luxury->ke505 sedan done exactly the way it was supposed to. But that doesn't mean it stil can't be improved upon. That's one of the reasons Mercedes->ke187 announced a new Night Package for the CLS, giving the model a nice brush up in style and class.

The package is limited to exterior upgrades and is available only on the CLS 500, CLS 500 4MATIC of AMG Line-equipped CLS-Class models. A short list of design elements are a part of the Night Package, including the addition of a high-gloss black lamella in the radiator grille and a new, high-gloss black front splitter in the front bumper. In fact, high-gloss black was used generously on the CLS; notice the exterior mirrors sporting the same finish?

Heat-insulating dark-tinted glass on the rear doors and an anodized trim strip are also part of the Night Package. These two elements don't catch the public's attention and yet, both play important roles in creating a comprehensive package that owners of the CLS-Class->ke539 can appreciate.

Mercedes-Benz CLS With Night Package in detail

The biggest feature of the Night Package is the wide array of wheel options being offered by Mercedes. Eighteen-inch, five-spoke, light-alloy wheels with a black finish appear to be the standard offering of the package, with Mercedes also offering 19-inch, seven-twin-spoke, light-alloy wheels coated in black lacquer. If you add this package to the CLS 500 or CLS 500 4MATIC, you also get to choose from 18-inch, five-twin-spoke, light-alloy rollers or the optional 19-inch, five-twin-spoke, light-alloy wheels.

Mercedes CLS

When there opened a slot for a Mercedes to compete with V-8-powered Audi->ke14s and BMW->ke178s, the Mercedes CLS-Class answered the call for the Silver Arrow company. The model was first introduced in 2005, so the CLS isn't exactly a new model by any stretch of the imagination.

Since it was introduced, the CLS-Class has evolved into one of Mercedes' most popular models, something it attributes to its seamless integration of sporty aggression with luxurious style.

In its current format, the Mercedes CLS comes with a variety of engine options, beginning with a 2.1-liter, four-cylinder, diesel engine that produces 204 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. A 3.0-liter V-6 is also offered with output numbers at 333 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Finally, a 4.7-liter V-8 comes with 408 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque.
