Mercedes-Benz C-Class Wagon

With the new C-Class sedan revealed almost completely, our spy photographers were out and about looking for the station wagon lacking camo. Well, today was the day, as our spy shooters found the T model, as Mercedes likes to call it, totally free of camouflage as well. It was not a video or a photo shoot; rather, the Mercedes guys "forgot" to cover it up. They did cover it up later, but it was a little bit late by that time.

Unfortunately, our spy photographers managed to catch only the rear of the car, but even so, we could sport some elements never seen before. You can now clearly see the taillights that go all the way to the tailgate and give the new C-Class wagon a wider look, kind of like a smaller E-Class wagon. Rounding out the changes we can see are exhaust pipes that are integrated with the rear bumper.

Since the new C-Class will grow in dimensions when compared to its predecessor, we expect it to offer more interior room and increased cargo space.

The new Mercedes C-Class will be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.

Mercedes-AMG GT

Now that Mercedes said its "Good Bye" to the current SLS AMG with the Final Edition revealed at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, the company is now focusing on the development of its successor. The next AMG GT, also known as the SLC , but internally known as the C190 was caught testing today by our spy photographers, and, as you can see it started to loose that nasty camouflage.

Offered as a direct competitor to the Porsche 911 , the upcoming AMG GT will be offered with at least three engine options, with the base model delivering somewhere between 400 and 500 horsepower and the Black Series version up to 600 horsepower.

The new Mercedes AMG GT is expected to be unveiled at the 2014 German Grand Prix next July. Mercedes said the model will only be offered in a coupe version, but a roadster version could also be offered if the model will prove itself successful.

Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake

Shortly after Mercedes unveiled the new CLA sedan , Gordon Wagener — the company’s head of design — announced that a shooting brake version was just around the corner. Still, ever since the announcement was made back in April, we never caught the CLA Shooting Brake out testing.

Today, however, our spy photographers got lucky and the model was spied up close wearing very little camouflage. In fact, we’re not too sure why Mercedes to tried hide it, because the CLA Shooting Brake’s back end will be basically identical to the CLS Shooting Brake , while the front end retains the CLA look.

As for the engine and gearbox lineup, expect it to borrow the sedan’s 1.6-liter turbocharged engines offered in two output levels, one with 121 horsepower and one with 154 horsepower. Rumors suggest that we will also see an AMG version offered with the same 2.0-liter, four-cylinder unit that delivers 330 horsepower.

When Mercedes unveiled the SLS Black Series , which so happens to be the most powerful SLS AMG ever, everyone wanted to know how fast the car was around the Nurburgring . Still, Mercedes decided to make us wait a few months until they will finally revealed a video showing the it lapping the famous track.

According to AMG , the driver was an AMG engineer who did a fine job navigating the windy track. AMG and Mercedes are remaining mum on the lap time, but if take a look at the video and time it yourself, you will get a time of a little under 7:30. By comparison, a standard SLS AMG lapped the ring in 7:40.

The SLS Black Series is powered by an improved version of the 6.3-liter, V-8 engine that now delivers a total of 622 horsepower at 7,400 rpm and a peak torque of 468 pound-feet at 5,500 rpm. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and up to a top speed of 196 mph.

Along with the mighty SLS Final Edition , Mercedes is also displaying a bad-ass GLA concept car at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show . Dubbed the GLA 45 AMG Concept car, this sweet compact crossover previews a new high-performance SUV coming from Germany.

The concept is powered by the same AMG 2.0-liter turbocharged engine found in some of its closest relatives, like CLA 45 AMG or A45 AMG . This petite powerhouse puts 360 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque into an AMG 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT seven-speed sports transmission. This combination teams up to deliver a stellar 0-to-60 mph sprint time of under 5 seconds and a thrifty 33 mpg.

Lest you believe that Mercedes would stop at the engine, it also installed the staple AMG body kit to help give the crossover some aesthetic credentials to go along with its peppy four-pot. This kit includes an AMG front apron with a large front splitter, and large air intakes, a "twin-blade" radiator grille in silver chrome, side sill panels with high-gloss black inserts, and around back, a set of black roof rails and a large rooftop spoiler.

It’s hard to believe that the Mercedes SLS AMG has been around since 2011. It wasn’t that long ago that we were all waiting in anticipation of the supercar ’s debut and now, with the SLS getting its discharge papers, and Mercedes has decided to give the mighty supercar one last hurrah in the form of the SLS AMG GT Final Edition.

Dressed in the same two-tone red and black finish that has become a staple for the SLS AMG, the Final Edition model also carries a number of styling cues that distinguishes itself from the rest of its brethren. It’s highly appropriate too, considering that this is the final run of SLS AMG models — all 350 of them — so it has to stand out in more ways than one.

The SLS AMG GT Final Edition comes with plenty of new and modified components, including a new carbon-fiber hood and front splitter, a redesigned front bumper, and new brakes. An updated rear wing is also part of the program, as are darkened light surrounds, and carbon-fiber mirror housings.

Performance numbers remain the same, which means that the supercar will receive a 6.3-liter, V-8 engine that produces 591 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to hit 60 mph in a scant 3.7 seconds to go with a top speed of 198 mph.

Like what was said, the Mercedes SLS AMG GT Final Edition will only have 350 units built, so if you’re looking to scoop one up, you need to be sitting at your local Mercedes dealer the morning it opens the order books.

We’re sure there will be much more information to roll out when Mercedes unveils the model in LA, so stay tuned for more updates.

Aftermarket companies usually pay close attention to performance and aesthetic upgrades when they’re building new programs for vehicles. On the rare occasion though, a tuning company eschews all that in favor of security and one firm that has made a good business out of it is Transeco.

Known for its armored vehicles, Transeco is taking a stab at turning the 2014 Mercedes S-Class into a veritable luxury fortress on four wheels. The program, which has been dubbed the Transeco S500L, is catered towards VIPs who know that security is paramount to their businesses.

As such, Transeco is acquiescing to these needs, fitting the S-Class with a ballistic protection level of 7, enough to withstand everything from a .357 Magnum to an M16 pelleting it with 5.56-by-45 mm rounds.

Laminated glass windows, armored pillars, and underbody protection were also added to beef up the security of the German luxury car while high-performance brakes, a modified suspension setup and run-flat tires were installed to provide performance and handling improvements that ties in well with the security enhancements given to the S-Class.

With Formula One moving toward making its cars more Eco-friendly, by limiting the number of engine and transmission swaps and eliminating in-race refueling, teams are having to find creative ways to get an advantage. Fortunately for Jenson Button , he doesn’t look much further than the sponsor who has a decal on the nose of his racecar .

That’s right, Button has found that an oil that you can pick up at your local parts store, Mobil 1, gives him the ability to overcome these new regulations and get the slight advantage he needs to take home first place. And this isn’t just hyperbole either, as he became the first F1 racer to ever win three Grand Prix races with the same engine with Mobil 1 providing the lubrication. In fact, 14 of his 15 GP wins have come with Mobil 1 products in his racecar.

According to Mobil 1, research shows that its products can extend fuel economy, and Button experienced this first hand in 2011. Button explains just how Mobil 1 oil helped him barely win the Japanese Grand Prix despite his critical fuel situation.

The video provides a little more detail on what Mobil 1 offers. And heck, if it’s good enough for an F1 car, why not use it in your road-going rig?

With just a few days before the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show opens its gates, Mercedes has posted a teaser image for a new AMG model, which will debut in LA, on its Facebook page. Mercedes didn’t reveal any other details on this image, so let the speculations begin!

The description next to the teaser image was as follows: "Want to take a glimpse into the future? Over the next few days we will uncover a new member of the AMG family, bit by bit. This first picture shows a front splitter made of visible carbon. Any idea what is coming?"

No, we have no idea, but we can take a crack at guessing. If you remember, Mercedes is expected to arrive in Los Angeles Auto Show with a special SLS Final Edition — the last model to be built before the new Mercedes GT/SLC takes its slot. Additionally, if you take a look at the current SLS and the teaser picture, you will notice some similar elements, like the carbon fiber lip and the design of the air intakes.

We will find out whether we are right or wrong soon enough, so stay tuned.
