To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the world’s first gas-turbine-powered car, Chrysler has decided to unveil a one-off special edition 300 that sports certain elements of the unique 1963 Chrysler Turbine Concept.
Being built as a one-off to celebrate the Turbine Concept, we expected it be turbine powered as well. Sadly, however, the gas turbine project was terminated in 1977, since then gasoline-powered engines have risen to be the top choice for making practical engines.
Automobile History-101 aside, this special edition will be based on a Chrysler 300, much like the Motown Edition that was recently launched. The Turbine Edition has the same Turbine Bronze matte paint job that graced the original ’63 concept along with a glossy black roof.
The front end of this 300S now has a more in-your-face look to it, more like the SRT version, with different upper and lower grilles and black tinted headlamps for a retro look.
The main spectacle of this edition is the 22-inch "Turbine" rims that give it a cool and retro stance, though we wouldn’t recommend doing a burnout with those larger-than-life rims.
Unfortunately, this is a one-off model and it appears as if there are no plans to offer such a package to the public. The 300S Turbine Edition is on display now, at the Detroit Auto Show.
After being teased for quite some time now, the new generation Mazda 6 has finally made its first appearance today before its official debut at the 2012 Moscow Motor Show (August 29 through September 9, 2012). The new model is set to go on sale by the end of the year, with prices to be announced at a later date.
The new Mazda 6 is the second Mazda model - after the new CX-5 - to adopt the company’s full range of Skyactiv technology and the "KODO – Soul of Motion" design language. The sedan is the mass production model born of the Mazda Takeri concept unveiled back in 2011. On the exterior the new Mazda 6 combines the animalistic tenacity, dignity and a sporty flare, while the interior has received better quality materials and a nicer design.
As for the engine line-up, Mazda announced details just for two gasoline versions, but for sure more engines will be used. The first is a Skyactiv-G 2.0 delivering 148 HP, while the second one is a Skyactiv-G 2.5 with 189 HP. Both engines are combined with start/stop technology, while the most powerful version will also get the i-ELOOP regenerative braking system.
Updated 01/03/2013: Mazda announced U.S. prices for the new-generation Mazda 6 which is now on sale. Prices will range from $20,880 for the entry i Sport version and up to $29,495 for the i Grand Touring version. The mid-level version, i Touring trim, is priced at $24,495. Winter is upon us and Dodge has launched a special-edition Charger specially developed for all driving conditions. The Dodge Charger AWD Sport will be offered with a choice of two engines – a V-6 and a V-8 – plus an updated exterior look.
As it name suggests, the new Charger AWD Sport will be offered with a new "Sport Mode" that will allow driver to change transmission’s gears a little bit quicker. The model will comes with a specially designed gloss-black split-crosshair grille, a set of 19-inch aluminum wheels in gloss black, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters with “Sport Mode” and a new rear spoiler.
The new special edition Charger will be built on the 2013 SXT, SXT Plus, R/T and R/T Plus models, and will carry a slight price increase over their respective base.

It’s no big news that most electric engines have immense torque to compensate for meager horsepower. And we all know that the Tesla Model S has enough torque and power to burn those rear tires. Jay Leno did a burnout once and he was surprised. But, with the PR guy sitting shotgun, he never really could unleash it like Ken Block would do in a Ford Mustang. So, we never really could see how capable an EV was in performing a simple yet spectacular stunt.
That was until Road and Track got a hold of a Model S and started torturing it like a prisoner of war. The car was hurling chunks and leaving masses of smoke from its tire in its wake, which to any motorhead would look quite fascinating. And thanks to the 600 Nm of constant peak torque, the Model S will vaporize its rear tires without breaking a sweat.
One intriguing aspect of this burnout is the noise. While a Ford Mustang would have to be screaming at the top of its voice, the Tesla Model S doesn’t even open its mouth. Even with the volume at maximum, you can only hear the tires screaming for mercy and the faint hum of the electric motor.
If this is what the future of EVs looks like, then bring it on...

The Panamera Sport Turismo is a very interesting concept because of its design and drivetrain. We’re not huge fans of the shooting brake form, but with one glance of it and we suddenly are in love with this. This is what the Panamera should’ve looked like in the first place.
The e-hybrid system, which is undergoing real-world tests, is said to be an advanced development of the setup found in the current Panamera S Hybrid and Cayenne S Hybrid. Said to produce 428 horsepower combined, the Panamera sure is one powerful hybrid.
Who said hybrids aren’t fun?
With the tests going smoothly, Porsche might surprise us with the launch of the production model in 2013. Nevertheless, we all can’t wait to see what the Panamera Sport Turismo has in store for us.
Kia’s lineup of debuts at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show offers plenty of revisions from previous model years. None of the unveilings venture more from their previous renditions than the 2014 Sorento.
The obvious choice for most drastic upgrade is the installation of a new 3.3-liter V-6 engine that produces an stout numbers that put it in favorable light compared to most of its rivals.
Aesthetically, the Kia crossover also received plenty of visual upgrades, highlighted by a modified front and rear fascia, a new grille, and the option of fitting up to 19-inch wheels. There’s a lot to like about the new Sorento, although there are parts of it that we weren’t too excited about.
Either way, it’s obvious that Kia went to great lengths to give the Sorento significant improvements. In the words of Michael Sprague, executive vice president, marketing and communications of Kia Motors America: "With more than 80 percent of the 2014 Sorento including new or significantly redesigned parts, it’s obvious that the improvements are not just skin deep; including technological enhancements such as UVO eServices, the next generation of our voice activated telematics system, and Kia’s first-ever blind spot detection system.2"

The anticipated reveal of the replacement for the Acura RL has finally made its debut at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. The all-new Acura RLX will make its production debut in early-2013, as a 2014 model year, giving Honda’s luxury lineup a head start for 2014.
We were all starting to wonder exactly what was in store for the RLX, since Acura announced its debut. Some of the questions that arose were around its power plant and whether or not this would simply be a restyled RL with an “X” on the end of its nameplate.
Acura answered all of those pertinent questions and then some at the auto show, as it pulled the sheet off of the new RLX and surprised everyone with a vehicle that bears little to no resemblance to its predecessor, something Honda Motor Company does not typically do. For the most part, Hondas tend to evolve rather slowly, with the exception of the latest Civic model, and rarely do we see big-time changes.
This all-new sedan is set to do battle with two newly redesigned imports, both of which debuted at the same auto show. On one side, you have the completely refreshed Toyota Avalon and on the other side, you have the redesigned Lexus ES 300h.
Can the RLX possibly fend off these two sister vehicles?
UPDATE 02/20/2013: Acura announced today pricing list for the 2014 RLX set to go on sale at a starting price of $48,450. Still, the car can get pretty expensive when adding an Advance Package; in this case price will start from $60,450.

Usually, a car like the Volkswagen Passat CC doesn’t enjoy much attention from us. However, when we are talking about a 502-horsepower version, things change significantly. This model has been specially developed by MR Car Design and boasts an incredible increase over the car’s standard 300 horsepower.
This package is based on the 3.6-liter V-6 version and adds an extensive HGP turbo kit and a custom exhaust system. This combination pumps the engine output from the standard 300 ponies and 258 pound-feet of torque to an amazing 502 horses and 516 pound-feet.
This special Passat CC has also been equipped with a DDC coil-over suspension system and a set of Ultraleggera wheels in the dimension of 8-by-18-inches wrapped up in 235/40R18 rubber. As you probably imagined the extra 202 horsepower also requires a new braking system and MR Car Design has obliged by installing a Stoptech ST-40 brake system with 355 x 32 mm (13.57- x 1.26-inch) discs.
At the end of October, we brought you the first spy shots of the facelifted version of the BMW 5-Series sedan. That prototype was wearing camouflage over the good parts — the parts being updated —so it was kind of difficult to see what changes the 2014 5-Series will bear. Thanks to our crack rendering team, we have a our rendering of the 2014 5-Series. We hope it gives you a clearer look at what we all expect to see when Bimmer unveils it.
The most significant changes will be made up front, as it will feature new air intakes on the front bumper, a new headlight design and a grille that sits more upright. As you can see, we have also included headlights that go all the way to the grille — a feature first seen on the 3-Series and that we expected to make its way over to the 5-Series lineup.
Most of the changes will be limited to the exterior, but there will be one under-hood change. This change will be the elimination of the N55 engine in the 535i and the addition of a new turbocharged in-line six-cylinder.
The next generation Skoda Octavia has been caught testing many times, but each time the car was camouflaged. This time, however, Nicolas Willson managed to shoot a photo of the next Octavia completely uncovered. The image was taken in Santiago, Chile, where Skoda was doing its own photo shoot of the new Octavia. The only thing covered up on the car is the Skoda logo on the front, but that won’t fool anyone.
As previously reported, the next Octavia will feature design elements we have already seen on Skoda’s new Rapid, including a grille that connects to both headlights.
The next Octavia will be built on Volkswagen’s new MQB platform and will come with the choice of two petrol engines — a 85-horsepower, 1.2-liter TSI and a 140-horsepower, 1.4-liter TSI — and two diesel engines — a 105-horsepower, 1.6-liter unit and a 150-horsepower, 2.0-liter unit.
