Another MINI special edition model rolled out of the block recently as part of the MINI Yours program, further cementing the BMW-owned as one of the most fan-appealing brands out on the market these days.
This particular model is called the MINI Clubman Hampton Edition and it’s going to come with some rather unique and peculiar features that speaks volumes of MINI’s image as a hip and vibrant automaker. For the Clubman Hampton Edition, a host of exterior and interior factory options have become available, including a Reef Blue metallic shade with the roof and rear door surrounds being dressed in silver. Other optional exterior colors are being made available, including Pepper White, Midnight Black and Eclipse Grey. These colors can be contrasted with either a Black or Reef Blue color for the Clubman’s roof and C-pillars. On top of the color dress-up options available for the Clubman Hampton, the special edition MINI will also come with black reflectors on the headlights, engraved sills on the doors, and a set of Twin Blade Spoke light-alloy wheels in silver or black and goes with a dark red trim ring.
Over at the interior, the MINI Clubman Hampton Edition will come with black Lounge Leather seats with red edging and orange contrast stitching, as well as an anthracite-decked roof line and dials.
As far as performance specs are concerned, the Clubman Hampton Edition will come with a number of engine options, including a 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated engine that produces 121 horsepower, a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 181 horsepower, a 1.6-liter diesel engine with 110 horsepower, and a 2.0-liter diesel engine with 141 horsepower.
Needless to say, MINI’s new special edition Clubman Hampton has all the workings, at least as far as aesthetics are concerned, to become a MINI that’s going to attract more than its usual share of attention. And for a brand like MINI, that’s saying something.
Looking like a car that’s been worked on for eye candy purposes, this MINI Cooper Clubman S may be a looker at first glance, but it actually has more to it than just its aesthetic improvements.
The car was worked on by Schmidt Revolution and features enough design upgrades that would make other MINIs blush with envy. The car, aptly named the ‘StreetWorker’, already comes with an in-house John Cooper Works Aerodynamic package so that in-itself is already reason enough to enjoy this ride. But instead of settling on just that package, Schmidt Revolution add some more sizzle to an already steaming bowl of MINI goodness.
The tuning firm went to work on the car by adding a matte blue wrap with black accents. The suspension was also tinkered with, giving it a Streetec air suspension that allows the car to adjust its ride height either 60mm lower or 40mm higher than its standard format all through the push of some buttons.
But despite these changes, the car’s claim to uniqueness is the set of 18” Cirrus rims that comes with any 3D-shaped multiplex patterns in a variety of colors, be it matte blue, bright red, or even carbon black.
And if you thought that Schmidt Revolution’s work on the Clubman Cooper came sans any performance upgrades, you’ll be happy to know that the company went out of its way to tinker with the car’s turbocharged 1.6-liter engine, upping its output to 200 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The work on the engine now provides the car the power to hit a top speed of 137 mph as well.
We know that the car’s overall look may be an acquired taste for some – some might even cringe at it – but as far as we’re concerned, Schmidt Revolution’s work is ‘unique’ and ‘different’ in a good way. Kind of like how you would describe MINI.
There are thousands of options for consumers to have a custom paint job done on their vehicle. Just type “custom paint job” in Google and thousands, if not millions, of results pop up. We all want our car to stand out, but, unfortunately, it takes time and money to make that happen. Of course, all that can change if you decide to purchase the new MINI Clubman. Exclusively for Clubman, MINI is introducing the MINIMagic paint system. Do you want a green car for St. Paddy’s Day or a red car for Christmas? How about any custom color that MINI provides?
The MINIMagic paint system is a two-part system. The first part happens at the MINI plant in Oxford, United Kingdom and the second occurs right on your driveway using the MINIMagic paint polish. Change your car’s color in as much time as it takes to wax it using paint polish with ranges from 1 month to 6 months or just create a permanent change. The polish with expiration will just revert back to the car’s original color at the end of the polish’s lifespan. Before concern settles, the polish will revert back in just a matter of hours.
Of course, in order to change your paint color as often as you change your hairstyle, you have to buy the MINI Clubman. Now, we are not big fans of hatchbacks, but we might consider the option if we can customize our paint color to this extent. Hmmmm…or maybe we can wait for this phenomenon to take off and spread to other carmakers. Decisions, decisions.
Of course, by now, you should have figured it out... APRIL FOOL’S!!!
You can check out the press release after the jump anyway.

The Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong is one of the most expensive and luxurious hotels in the world and it seems fitting that in celebrating its 81st anniversary, the hotel is bequeathed with a classy and elegant present – or two.
To celebrate the hotel’s momentous occasion, MINI has given the Peninsula Hotel two special-edition Cooper S Clubmans to add to the hotel’s already world-famous car fleet.
Gert Hildebrand, head of MINI Design, was on-hand for the presentation of the two cars, which happened at the hotel’s world-renowned anniversary gala “Grande Dame of the Far East”. Accepting the cars on behalf of the Peninsula Hotel was Sir Michael Kadoorie, chairman of The Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels Ltd. – the corporation that owns and operates the Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong.
In line with the hotel’s theme, the two MINI Cooper S Clubmans were given a Brewster Peninsula Green paintwork with custom specific lettering on the doors and illuminated door sills. The Cooper S Clubmans also come with a roof rail, which allows the hotel guests to have extra space for their extended shopping binges in Hong Kong.
The two cars now join Peninsula’s exclusive car fleet that already includes 14 Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase cars and a classic Rolls-Royce Phantom II that was built way back in 1934.
To say that 2009 has been a big year for MINI is an understatement. In line with the company’s 100th year anniversary, MINI has rolled out a laundry list of special edition vehicles this year alone. Over the course of a few months, MINI has introduced the Mayfair, the Camden, the JCW World Championship 50, and a host of other limited-run vehicles to commemorate the company’s 100th year of existence.
And now, MINI USA, as part of the lead-up for the introduction of the MINI Clubman JCW aero-kit – is bringing to the US the MINI “Rally Edition” Clubman S. With only 70 of these babies being shipped to the US, this “rally Edition” MINI is shaping up to be a must-have car for MINI enthusiasts in America. These guys better act fast, though, because reports have said that each MINI dealer in the US is scheduled to receive only one car, which comes with its own signature plaque signifying the ‘exclusivity’ of the car, for each store.
Mini announced the Mini One and One Clubman will be revealed in March at the Geneva Motor Show. Both models will go on sale shortly after, at a price of 15.200 euro for the Mini One and 18200 for the Mini One Clubman.
Mini One is powered by a 4-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 75 hp at 4 000 rpm. The maximum torque of 120 Newton meters is available at 2 500 rpm. Its technical features also include fully variable valve control, a volume-flow-controlled oil pump and a coolant pump which operates according to needs.
Mini One Clubman is powered by a 95 bhp 4-cylinder petrol engine, with a fuel consumption of 5.4 liters per 100 kilometers and CO2 emission of 130 grams per kilometer.
Both models are being offered with Earl Grey Package that includes a metallic paint finish in Dark Silver, sporty decor stripes at the body sides, specially designed wheel trim panels and white direction indicators. It is offered at a particularly attractive price not just for the MINI One with 55 kW, but also for the MINI One, the MINI Cooper and the MINI Cooper D as well as for the MINI One Clubman, the MINI Cooper Clubman and the MINI Cooper D Clubman.
For a car that is being showcased at the ultra-luxury Dutch Millionaire Fair in Amsterdam this Mini is a little lacking. The Clubman only really features a new matte black paint job, 18-inch wheels (17’ are standard), and a interior color not currently available from the factory (Hot Chocolate). The engine is the standard 1.6-liter 208 hp unit from the factory JCW Clubman.
Yes this car is a kinda fun, and the matte black definitely will make this different from the other Mini’s out there, but we expect something more creative from a company who has been a lot cooler in the past.
In celebration of the launch of the Mini Cooper Clubman in the Chinese market, Mini has chopped the back half off a handful of cars so they can be converted into rickshaws. The German built Mini’s were converted to rickshaws in Hong Kong, and then the ’rickiMINI’ was taken to Beijing to "bring good luck" to the Beijing Olympics. Mini is no doubt trying to capitalize on the global spotlight placed on Beijing with the current Olympic games
The Life Ball MINI Clubman was auctioned on eBay for €45,000 to raise funds for AIDS research. For the last four years, MINI has provided the Life Ball charity with a special one-off model, each designed by an edgy artist.
This year, the MINI Clubman came dressed like a burlesque bedroom on wheels thanks to Agent Provocateur’s founder, Joseph Corré. Available video includes shots of the MINI’s re-design by Agent Provocateur, views of the photo shoot with the Mini and Agent Provocateur models, and soundbites from Joseph Corré.
