German automaker, MINI->ke57 has another special-edition model on the horizon and, just like the MINI Hyde Park, the MINI Green Park, the Cooper Bayswater, and the Cooper Baker Street, they're naming this one after another London street/landmark.

Called the Clubman Bond Street Edition, the specially dressed Clubman->ke2526 is a new take on an old formula for MINI. Special-edition models have always been one of their calling cards and the Bond Street Edition is the latest in a long line of them.

It's been graced with a lot of exterior and interior refinements, which in this case, work for the vehicle. MINI didn't go for the splashy route like they're accustomed to doing; instead, they went for a scheme that's a little more high class and refined.

Make no mistake, MINI will always be known for its quirkiness; that won't change. But this time, they left that out of the door in favor of something that actually looks like a classy stand out.

UPDATE 02/20/13: The MINI Clubman Bond Street Edition is headed to the Geneva Motor Show. Watch out for it at the MINI stand, fellas!

Exterior

MINI is known for taking inspiration from some of London's famous streets and attractions and this latest piece of work is no different. Bond Street, incidentally, is considered the most exclusive shopping street in London. It’s a place steeped in the tradition of classical style and the appreciation of high-standard quality. In a nutshell, that's what the Clubman Bond Street Edition also offers: style and quality wrapped in one package.

The Midnight Black metallic paintwork is the ideal base color when you take into consideration the Cool Champagne contrast color that was used in the roof of the car, as well as on the exterior mirror caps, the lower sections of the C-pillars, and the bonnet stripes. Taken together, this two-tone scheme casts a striking and appealing look upon the Clubman's dynamic body sculpture. And if we do say so ourselves, there's a certain element of panache and glamour attributed to these colors, something that's most certainly a welcome complement for MINI.

If special details are considered important in the Clubman Bond Street Edition, then we certainly don't mind that the “Bond Street” lettering displayed on the side indicator surrounds and the door sill strips of the crossover. Add the final touch of a set of 17-inch light-alloy wheels carrying a Twin-Spoke Black design with an exclusive trim ring in Cool Champagne and you've got the makings of stunning special edition that MINI should definitely be proud of.

Interior

The interior of the Clubman Bond Street is a picture of refinement, highlighted by styling components that include Lounge Leather sports seats dressed in Carbon Black with piping and stitching in Deep Champagne. The seats’ colors aren't going to jump out at you, but they do create an effective tone of class and substance in the interior, something that blends with interior surfaces that also carry the Deep Champagne color. The same treatment can be found on the leather trim for the Colour Line and armrests with contrast stitching in Deep Champagne, floor mats with black piping and more Deep Champagne contrast stitching. MINI's Chrome Line interior package rounds out the interior's posh styling.

Performance

Four powertrain options of the Clubman can be had for this special edition model. The first is the 112-horsepower Cooper D Clubman, followed by the 122-horsepower Cooper Clubman. From there, you can also opt for the Cooper SD Clubman with 143 horsepower and, finally the Cooper S Clubman with 184 horsepower. Each version is linked to a six-speed manual transmission with an automatic variant available as an added option.

Additional Equipment

Additional equipment has always been a hallmark for the Clubman and the Bond Street Edition is no different. The Chrome Line exterior package will be available, as are front fog lamps, which naturally adds function to the car's capabilities. Add in some interior comforts, including climate control, an onboard computer, the Sport Button, a rain sensor with automatic headlamp activation, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with multifunction buttons and cruise control, and height adjustment for the front passenger seat, and this special edition is chock-full of high-end equipment. Finally, the Bond Street Edition also comes with a storage package and lighting package.

Price

No word yet on how much the Clubman Bond Street Edition is going to cost, although MINI did say that the model will go on sale on March 2013, following its unveiling at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. We'll be sure to update you guys once we have the numbers that'll affect your wallets.

Conclusion

For a company that makes special-edition models as if the world depends on it, the Clubman Bond Street Edition offers a fresh look that undoubtedly underscores the unique qualities of the model. But the question is: is it worth your money?

As far as we're concerned, if we're getting a special-edition MINI, this would be right on top of our list.
