2013 Mini Countryman ALL4 Camp

With the introduction of the Mini Countryman ALL4 , the number of four-wheel-drive models in the automaker’s lineup increases, giving us more choices on which of these models will suit our four-wheel-drive fancy.

Apparently, MINI has something in store for the Countryman ALL4 and it involves having a tricked-out tent on its roof. Camping season is upon us, and Mini ’s got the perfect outdoor companion in the form of the Countryman ALL4 Camp.

As the name suggests, the Countryman ALL4 Camp is a mobile camping machine in the sense that you can literally move your camp around without having to worry about packing it up and stuffing it into the cargo hull. That’s because the camp is already set up...on the roof!

All you have to do is use a ladder to head upstairs into the tent, fold out the upper half of the tent out of its storage box, fluff up the pillows and you’re ready to get that much-needed snooze time. Once you’re up and about, you can enjoy the spectacular view that the Countryman ’s higher ride height provides.

When you’re ready to head out for more adventure, you can stow away the tent into its box, climb down the ladder, and ride your mountain bike that’s stowed on the specially-fitted bicycle rack.

The Mini Countryman ALL4 Camp is the suitable partner for all those weekend camping trips, which at this time of the year, will undoubtedly pick up in volume.

MINI Cooper Countryman ALL4

Mini’s expansion of its Countryman lineup resulted in the birth of the new ALL4 version based on the standard Cooper version, increasing the number of all-wheel-drive versions within the Mini model range to 10 models.

The new Countryman ALL4 is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 122 horsepower and 118 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic transmission and sends its power to all four wheels via a permanent all-wheel-drive system. Translated into performance numbers, the Countryman ALL4 is capable of hitting 0 to 60 mph in 11.9 seconds with a manual transmission or 11.7 seconds with the optional automatic. Top speed for both trims is pegged at 114 mph.

Finding overnight accommodation can be a real headache, especially for drivers who have taken a spontaneous trip to a festival or beach. But there’s no need to worry about finding the perfect place to bed down when travelling in this MINI. Even when completely off the beaten track, all the owner has to do is head upstairs.

The innovative roof-top tent is showcased above a MINI Countryman which, thanks to its intelligent all-wheel drive system ALL4, is well-suited to travelling over rough terrain. But this simple and practical sleeping solution can easily be mounted on a MINI or MINI Clubman. The upper half of the tent is simply folded out of its storage box. Plump up the pillows and two occupants are ready to relax, then wake up to a perfect view of the ocean, mountain or valley.

How about an early morning ride out to buy breakfast? It’s easily done because a mountain bike can be easily transported on the specially fitted bicycle rack.

The roof-top tent quickly folds away into its box when it’s not needed. The exterior has been painted in Absolute Black metallic with white stripes to match the car beneath.
