Mitsubishi Lancer Prototype S first official images


At the Geneva Motor Show Mitsubishi will unveil the Lancer Prototype S, the prototype version of the Lancer hatchback, a model specially designed for the European market. Until next week, here are the first official images of the prototype. It will come to compete with Ford Focus ST, Mazda3 MPS and Opel Astra OPC.

The Lancer Prototype S will be powered by the same engines as the Lancer sedan: 1.5 and 2.4 gas engines, but also a few turbos and turbo-diesel. The top version will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter and all-wheel-drive system.



2008 Mitsubishi Prototype-S


Mitsubishi today officially revealed the Prototype-S concept that will make its debut at the 78th Geneva International Motor Show which runs from March 4 through March 16 at the Geneva Palexpo exhibition and conference complex.

The Prototype-S is inspired by the MMC’s sport sedan family, which includes the Lancer, the Lancer Ralliart and the Lancer Evolution. It will come as a five-door hatchback that will come to compete with the Impreza WRX STi.

It is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder DOHC MIVEC intercooler / turbocharger engine that delivers a maximum power of 237 hp and a peak torque of 252 lbs-ft.

Mitsubishi unveiled the Sportback Concept back in 2005, and since then no one heard anything about it. Until today when the first official images of the Lancer Prototype S surfaced, the preview version of the five-doors version of the Lancer Ralliart. The Lancer Prototype S will make its debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show.

Mitsubishi announced the MSRP for the 2008 Lancer. The Evolution GSR version powered by a DOHC I4 MIVEC Turbo engine and mated with a 5-Speed Manual will be priced at $32,990.00.

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X


Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announces today that it will launch the Lancer Evolution X high-performance 4WD sedan, newest of the company’s legendary vehicles, on October 1 at dealerships throughout Japan. Featuring a new platform, engine, and exterior and interior designs, the totally redesigned 2.0-liter model will carry a tax-inclusive price tag ranging from 2,997,750 to 3,750,600 yen. Models fitted with the Twin Clutch SST transmission are due to be launched towards the end of November.
