Mitsubishi released the first informations about the Lancer Evolution X Group N, the WRC Rally version of the high performance 4WD sedan. The Evo X Group N will be used on the Japanese round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).
The Course cars, referred to as the "Double Zero" and "Zero" cars, have to travel through the course before the competing vehicles, 30-minutes for the Double Zero car and 15-minutes for the Zero car, to check track conditions making sure that everything is ready. The Lancer Evolution X Group N as a course car will have the job of running the course ahead of the competitors to check the road conditions in order for the race to go smooth.
The Lancer Evolution X Group N features: sump-guard, floor guard with fuel tank protection and mud flaps. A few safety features have been added to the cockpit: five-point safety harnesses for the crew with bucket seats and a competition steering wheel.
The Lancer Evolution X WRC model will gets it’s homologation from the Federation International de L’Automobile (FIA) sometime next summer, and will compete in the WRC at the end of 2008 or in 2009.
