2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR


On the heels of the successful introduction of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR, Mitsubishi Motors announces the availability of the more technologically-advanced 2008 Lancer Evolution MR, the newest and most sophisticated version of the model series that began 16 years ago.

Shown coming off the production line in Japan, the Lancer Evolution MR arrives at showrooms in the U.S. in June and is available for a suggested retail price of $38,290. The MR features more user technology and a broader market appeal than the entry level GSR, including an advanced 6-speed Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission.

The Lancer Evolution MR is available with an optional technology package for $40,840 that includes a 30GB hard drive navigation system with music server, 650-watt Rockford-Fosgate Premium Sound System, pre-paid Sirius Satellite Radio capability and FAST Key entry, which allows passive vehicle unlocking and engine start/stop simply by carrying the remote control and grasping the handle.

Since its introduction earlier this year, the tenth-generation 2008 Lancer Evolution GSR has met positive reactions across the industry for maintaining a balance of core performance values and improved all-around capability and user-technology:

i’m not saying that 0-60 is completely irrelevant bc as you said it shows grip of the tires, drivetrain efficiency suspension setup etc... but simply accelerating in a straight line is not the only thing that matters... it helps to show a cars initial performance but in a real race everything comes into consideration from brakes to aerodynamics... well and the drivers skill of course

And I disagree with jtm that 0to60 are irrelevant. I think its the first indication of how much traction a car has to offer and its drivetrain efficiency.
As I said before, an important factor, not the only one though.......

badest, go to IL where the EVO X bi*chslapped a Porche and where the STi came last in the comparison. The thing to notice here is that the EVO beat an 85k Porche while the STi came last.

The mistsubishi lancer 2009 is soo sweet. whatever itdoesnt make up for with speed it makes up for in looks and its sleek style.

do you believe everything you read? if you think the new evo is so much worse than the old one then go test drive it... til then keep your opinions to yourself... and like i said acceleration isn’t everything.

actually motor trend tested it goon an they said it themselves it don’t go any faster than 5.2 face it the car , the evo IX was much better... stop makin excuses for it

0-60 and 1/4 mile times are for unskilled drivers who spend too much of their time on the strip burning up tires and wearing out their trannys... no offense or anything man but like really a 30-70 mph time is quite a bit more important than a 0-60 since how many times do you really come to a complete stop on a racetrack... and i’d take handling over brute power any day... sure 1/4 mile times are cool to brag about... but thats really only if you’re a boy racer who only knows how to floor the accelerator and shift a little...emphasis on little. hence why i stuck with a 240sx and am upgrading it instead of changin to a GTO... handling is everything in a real race

Okay then, "dude". How is it that a car that can hold supercar levels of grip, brake better than almost anything and thrash an STi (current version anyway) around turns pathetic? Read the reviews. the STi gets its tailspipes kicked by the new EVO.

Don’t tell me you judge a cars performance by 0to60 alone. Hate to break it to you but while 0to60 is important, there are some more factors to be considered, factors that prove the current generation EVO is superior to the STi.

the base model does it in 4.7 seconds, could it be (very quiet voice)your not driving it properly?

No its not pathetic, especially not when you can make 375hp with a simple ECU reflash (Vishnus) with stock engine internals. And I thought the MR did 0to60 in anywhere between 4.9 to 5.3. Compared to the STi, it has better handling and the performance is not bad for a car with that high a curb weight. Its active yaw system is also a lot better than the current STi’s AWD system. The STi is still a great car but that doesn’t make this car pathetic.

The supercar killer is back and it looks even better than before.
