In September, at Frankfurt Motor Show, Mitsubishi will unveil the 2008 Outlander SUV. For the 2008 model, Mitsubishi will add two new engines. The first one is a 2.2 Di-D, Diesel common rail with a maximum power of 156 hp at 4000 rpm and a peak torque of 280 lbs-ft at 2000 rpm. Set to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2007 this new engine is mated with 6-speed manual gearbox and an All Wheel Control system. The next engine, set to be launched in the same time with the first one will be a 2.4 l MIVEC, Petrol engine with a maximum power of 170 hp at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 171 lbs-ft at 4100 rpm. The engine is mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox or stepped Sport Mode 6-speed CVT with optional paddle shift controls and 2-wheel drive or All Wheel Control system(according to markets). Also the current 2.0 Di-D Diesel pump-jet (140 PS @ 4,000 rpm and 310 Nm @ 1,750 rpm) “mid power” power plant will be available for the 2008 model. Further improvements for 2008 include:

Looks good. I like the direction that Mitsubishi is heading in. I just wish they would sort out a few of the other models like the Galant and the L200.
