Nissan will unveil a new version of it Qasqhai crossover on Monday. Named "Qasqhai+2", the new crossover will feature an additional third row of seats that are designed for children or small adults up to about 1.6m or 5.2 ft tall.
Compared to the standard Qashqai, the new version will feature a wheelbase extended by 135 mm or 5.3 in. taking it to 2,765 mm or 108.9 in. Overall, the Qashqai+2’s length has risen to 4,526 mm or 178.2 in., an increase of 211 mm or 8.3 in. over the five-seat version. Subsequently, the Qashqai+2 will also offer more luggage space compared to its 5-seater sibling, and in particular, almost 500 litres - an increase of 90 litres over the Qashqai.
Nissan’s QASHQAI has picked up another gong, rounding off a great debut year for the compact crossover whose all round qualities have captured customers’ imaginations. The BBC Top Gear magazine team have named it best SUV in their 2007 Awards issue, on sale now.

Today, Euro NCAP is delighted to release the results for its highest scoring car in adult occupant protection since Euro NCAP was established over 10 years ago. The Nissan Qashqai, a small family car, received almost maximum points in Euro NCAP’s strict front, side impact and pole crash tests as well as a high performance score in the child occupant protection rating.

The QASHQAI, Nissan Motor’s new compact crossover which went on sale in March, is off to a strong start. As of today, total orders for the vehicle are approaching 50,000 units. As of the end of April, sales totaled 23,551 units.
Nissan originally announced plans to produce 130,000 units at its Sunderland plant in UK but due to the very encouraging high demand Nissan is studying ways to increase volume at the plant.

Production of the new QASHQAI equipped with the state-of-the-art 2.0-litre dCi engine starts this week at Nissan’s Sunderland factory. The 2.0-litre dCi engine – engine code M1D – produces 110kW (150hp) at 4000rpm and 320Nm of torque at 2000rpm, while returning a frugal fuel economy figure of 42.8 mpg and CO2 emissions of 174g/km when fitted with manual transmission and in 2WD configuration. Nissan today (6th September) presented for the first time its new Compact Crossover for Europe, the Qashqai, at an event hosted in Paris by Carlos Ghosn, Nissan’s President and CEO. Inspired by the concept car of the same name that was presented at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, the Qashqai is a new vehicle for Nissan in Europe, with sales starting in February 2007.
