2012 Nissan GT-R Egoist Edition

Thanks to an order guide released by Nissan , we have the skinny on just the type of edition Nissan is offering for those GT-R lovers that require a little more luxury for their driving experience. Along with five other version of the GT-R - "Pure Edition," "Black Edition," "Premium Edition," "SpecV," and "ClubTrack" - Nissan will be offering the "EGOIST" model. This model is the first and only Nissan GT-R in the world exclusively created by Takumi, or "master with greatest skills."

This unique edition will provide a great amount of interior and exterior modifications to provide the ultimate GT-R. Each unit will be unique, as customers will be able to choose from a combination of 20 interior colors, and that is just the beginning.

Power for the EGOIST edition will continue to be provided by the standard 3.8-liter V6 twin turbo engine with 530 HP at 6,400rpm and a maximum torque of 612Nm delivered from 3,200 to 6,000 rpm. All this means is that Nissan has focused more on the look of this version, while saving the power upgrades for the Club Track edition.

Prices for the 2012 Nissan GT-R EGOIST will be announced closer to its official market launch, but check out the details after the jump to see what Nissan has in store for their latest GT-R.

Update 02/08/2011: Nissan has revealed new images of the special edition GT-R Egoist. Also we have the official performance numbers: a sprint from 0 to 60 mph made in 3.046 seconds while top speed is 195 mph.

Exterior and Interior

Nissan GT-R Egoist Edition

The difference between a standard GT-R and the Egoist version is provided by a black carbon rear spoiler (also used in the SpecV) that provides stable aerodynamic performance. The car sits on lightweight and highly rigid forged aluminum-alloy wheels offered in five-layer Blue Sword Chrome Color Coating. The exterior look is finished by a Titanium exhaust system.

The most impressive changes, however, have been made on the interior. Customers can choose a combination of interior colors among 20 choices, four upper area interior colors, and 10 lower area interior colors. Seat Seat s are an exclusive quilted design with single and double stitching combined in a reticular pattern. Enhanced body grip performance (suitable for racing circuit driving), smoothness, and fit are all provided.

A very interesting feature of the interior is a Wajima Lacquer (Maki-e) GT-R Emblem placed on the center of the steering wheel that changes its beautiful coloring of Maki-e changes as time goes by.

Customers will also get a special Bose Precision Sound System with carbon composite-based woofers, which can cancel vibrations through their high rigidity and damping. In addition, sound quality is adjusted by Bose exclusively for each owner, depending on individual driving position.

Engine

Nissan GT-R Egoist Edition

Under the hood there is the same engine as in any standard GT-R: a 3.8-liter V6 twin turbo engine that delivers a total of 530hp at 6,400rpm and 612Nm of torque at 3,200 - 6,000rpm. Mated to a 6 speed dual clutch transmission, the engine will sprint the GT-R from 0 to 60 mph in just 3 seconds, all this with a fuel consumption of only 8.5km/L.

When Can I Get One?

Nissan GT-R Egoist Edition

The 2012 Nissan GT-R EGOIST edition will be a Japan-only model and will be available in February 2011 at a starting price of 15,000,300 Yen (about US$184,500 at the current rates).

Competition

Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R EGOIST still has to be cautious of the 911 Turbo, even in Japan. The Turbo is powered by a 3.8 Liter engine that develops 500 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque with the Sport Chrono Package. This allows the Porsche to sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in only 3.4 seconds and reach a 194 MPH top speed. For 2011, Porsche has come out with the 911 Turbo S that boosts the power output to 530Hp, matching that of the 2012 GT-R. Of course, with this special little GT-R, Nissan Nissan also adds more luxury and technology to the mix, giving the GT-R that extra edge. Working against the EGOIST is its price, as the EGOIST runs at about $184,500 while the Porsche Turbo Porsche Turbo is priced at $132,800 and the Turbo S at $160,700. We think we’ll stay with the standard GT-R. That one’s plenty awesome in our books, and it starts at $89,950.

LOVE IT
  • luxurious, but sporty interior, with lots of options to choose from
  • cool sound system
  • rear wing and titanium exhaust system
LEAVE IT
  • we would also preferred an engine update
  • still no manual transmission
  • fuel consumption is still a problem

well,..Even though it is skinny type it is still simple but nice..but its the "master with greatest skills.".. This unique edition will provide a great amount of interior and exterior design.

well i guess not, this is just the same as the computer system you have in home, without it i wont run. because it was interconnected with ignition, electricity and security system of the car.

I guess this is the most luxurious GT-R I’ve seen. because most of the GT-R i saw is sporty. black interior and fitter with hundreds of sensors and highly advanced computer system.

hmm I’m just wondering, will it still be run eventhough I remove the super chip? just a tought

well atleast the Customers can choose a combination of interior colors among 20 choices, four upper area interior colors and 10 lower area interior colors. Interior parts are sent to Seton Company, Inc. Muelheim an der Ruhr in Germany and leather master craftsmen sew and stick carefully selected leather by hand.

Good design ought to strive for simplicity, by getting rid of everything that’s unnecessary that makes it appear too busy and visually cluttered.

It is cute and just simple cars but it offers a good quality of service and the engine of this is high affordable made by a broaden mind of many well known people for todays generation.

unique style ,also the interior design of the car is very simple yet fitted with highly advance computer system. this car is purely build to be fast, menacing and smoke its competitors.

I personally don’t enjoy the color scheme so much, and would rather see a much simpler plain and elegant design for the interior.

At it’s price I’m wondering why I don’t see more of these babies on the street!

I love the stripped details... is this a applicable foil or it is painted smiley

The only thing I prefer on this car is the red/white interior... I think it looks great! Aside of that... nothing much.
