2013 Nissan Z

Nissan may have plenty of models to boast of, but the one car that stands out to anyone looking for a vehicle with a little pep in its step is the Nissan Z car. Back in 1964, Nissan began toying with the idea of building a sports car to add to their lineup, but it wasn’t until 1969 that a vehicle was actually produced. The Datsun 240Z was available in two versions - and proved to be the successful sports car that Nissan had anticipated. Six generations later and Nissan had produced many variations of the vehicle, including the ever-popular 370Z. Now, after only four years since the latest 370Z was created, rumors are flying suggesting that Nissan is ready to go at it again with a new generation Z. Not only will the world be getting one of their beloved sports cars once again, but it may also be powered by a hybrid drivetrain, a rumor we first heard back in 2010 most likely the same one used in the Infiniti M hybrid. Yes, the world is going hybrid, and there’s nothing we can do to stop it.

Hit the jump to read more about the 2013 Nissan Z.

Exterior and Interior

There are obviously extremely limited details for the future generation Z car, but we imagine that the design of the vehicle will be more aerodynamic with a sportier appearance than the current model. If this rendering by BestCar is any indication of what the future Z will actually look like, then it is clear that the focus will be to make it look aggressive and fast.

Engine

It is very possible that next to a conventional powertrain, the new Nissan Z will also use a hybrid drivetrain as seen in the Infiniti M hybrid. This means a naturally aspirated 3.5 Liter V6 engine combined with an efficient electric motor for a total output of 360 bhp and about 450 lb.-ft. of torque. Fuel consumption will be in the 30 mpg area.

Another possibility is a diesel engine developed by Daimler, but we doubt this will ever happen in a hybrid Z model.

Pricing

Expect the new Nissan Z to debut in 2013, with sales beginning in 2014. We’re assuming prices will start at around $30K (going off of the current 370Z’s prices), but the hybrid variant will probably cost a few more thousand.

Competition

If built, the Nissan Z hybrid will be a direct competitor for models like the Toyota FT-86 and the Subaru FT-86. We’re guessing the Nissan Z will kill two birds with one stone on this one. The two FT-86 models will deliver less power than the Z model with a a 2.5-liter boxer-four engine that produces 305 HP, but if Subaru debuts an STI version then things may get real close.

Since we don’t know the price of the Nissan Z just yet, we’re going to assume that it will match the price of the current 370Z which starts at around $30,000. This means that the two FT-86s will have the advantage of being cheaper than the new generation Z. Bummer. We’d still take the Z though.

The mileage of this car looks so fabulous. The front headlights seem so cool! It is very an eye catcher, if I’m not mistaken it is a sports car right? If it is, I don’t think V6 engine is quite good on it.

I found it very aggressive. I love the color that they used on it and the styling is very simple but very appealing.

You are right ConcernCitizen but I still find it very attractive and impressive but so much for the looks, how about its interior touch and features? is it impressive either?

I think they over designed the front lights of this Nissan Z but despite of that I still find it so impressed and me either hopes that they will put this one on production.

Just keep on hoping that they will put this one on production. I must agree either with them that it is a nice idea if will make it a hybrid version.

Yeah, with the fuel crisis no wonder why electric and hybrid car was built. The sad part is the vehicles worth in a million dollar price tag. Same here, I think this concept is on its way for production.

Well, this one is still a rumor, I think Nissan haven’t confirm on its production. However, I will not disagree if they will make a hybrid version since we all know on how successful is the Nissan Leaf! I think they will continue this production since there is a tight competition with hybrid cars in the market.

I like the designs of the car and the sporty look it gives but the performance is not that impressive. It is cheaper compare to its competitor, but I would still prefer Subaru FT-86 with this one.

The designs of their cars are usually similar, however this one is pretty cool. The ability performance is fine though we all know that they can create a much better output. This can be a successful production similar to the others.

hmm. It seem that this will be a competition between the Japanese automaker! The performance of the FT- 86 is incredible. I wonder what would be the power output of this vehicle.
