Nissan may have plenty of models to boast of, but the one car that stands out to anyone looking for a vehicle with a little pep in its step is the Nissan Z car. Back in 1964, Nissan began toying with the idea of building a sports car to add to their lineup, but it wasn’t until 1969 that a vehicle was actually produced. The Datsun 240Z was available in two versions - and proved to be the successful sports car that Nissan had anticipated. Six generations later and Nissan had produced many variations of the vehicle, including the ever-popular 370Z. Now, after only four years since the latest 370Z was created, rumors are flying suggesting that Nissan is ready to go at it again with a new generation Z. Not only will the world be getting one of their beloved sports cars once again, but it may also be powered by a hybrid drivetrain, a rumor we first heard back in 2010 most likely the same one used in the Infiniti M hybrid. Exterior and InteriorThere are obviously extremely limited details for the future generation Z car, but we imagine that the design of the vehicle will be more aerodynamic with a sportier appearance than the current model. If this rendering by BestCar is any indication of what the future Z will actually look like, then it is clear that the focus will be to make it look aggressive and fast. 2011 Nissan 370Z Coupe  EngineIt is very possible that next to a conventional powertrain, the new Nissan Z will also use a hybrid drivetrain as seen in the Infiniti M hybrid. This means a naturally aspirated 3.5 Liter V6 engine combined with an efficient electric motor for a total output of 360 bhp and about 450 lb.-ft. of torque. Fuel consumption will be in the 30 mpg area. Another possibility is a diesel engine developed by Daimler, but we doubt this will ever happen in a hybrid Z model. PricingExpect the new Nissan Z to debut in 2013, with sales beginning in 2014. We’re assuming prices will start at around $30K (going off of the current 370Z’s prices), but the hybrid variant will probably cost a few more thousand. 2011 Nissan 370Z Roadster  CompetitionIf built, the Nissan Z hybrid will be a direct competitor for models like the Toyota FT-86 and the Subaru FT-86. We’re guessing the Nissan Z will kill two birds with one stone on this one. The two FT-86 models will deliver less power than the Z model with a a 2.5-liter boxer-four engine that produces 305 HP, but if Subaru debuts an STI version then things may get real close. Since we don’t know the price of the Nissan Z just yet, we’re going to assume that it will match the price of the current 370Z which starts at around $30,000. This means that the two FT-86s will have the advantage of being cheaper than the new generation Z. Bummer. We’d still take the Z though. 34 comments: Nissan Z Agreed. That the styling of the future production is quite impressive. However, it seems that the engine performance is not good compare to the speed of the current generation.
 Compare to the recent styling of the Nissan car, this concept seems to be quite elegant and I can see a lot of details though its not bloat loaded. I like the sportier and aggressive version of this car.
 Well, I guess Nissan have a great plan for their future production. I wonder if we could see a higher figure for the horsepower or it will be like a output of a aftermarket version.
 The future design of the Z series is quite impressive compare to their current platform. BTW, the figure performance of this car seems to be powerful and will perform better than their current model.
 Hmm, I hope that they have great plans for the Nissan Z. that car is really great, but it does need a few things to be taken care of. Hope they do a great job on this one.
 Well, I don’t think that the Z series is a powerful version. IMO, the 370z has a less power output for a sportscar! I likely more to see myself driving the Toyota FT-6 rather.
 Aesthetically, this car is quite interesting and the figure performance is impressive for a hybrid car! I cant wait for its debut!
 Yeah,i agree with you guys! Actually, i find it kind of different from the current styling off GTR. I want to see the debut of this car. I can’t wait to test drive it!
 looks great. i really like the current 370z i just wish nissan would build further on the z’s heritage by re-introducing a twin turbo version. wouldn’t be that hard for nissan engineers to downsize the gtr’s powerplant slightly and stuff it in the Z. now that would be a true successor to the z32 series.
