Exterior

As you probably have expected, updates made on the exterior were kept to a minimum and were made just to add a little refreshment to the lineup.

Up front Opel added a wider and lower high-gloss chrome grille, redesigned headlights executed in high gloss black with embedded chrome accents. Depending on the trim level the headlights will be offered with bi-xenon lamps or energy-saving LEDs.

The front bumper is now slimmer and wider and the fog lamps are combined with wide black inserts and chrome accents. When viewed from the side you will notice unique tailgates and integrated spoiler design.

For the rear the revised Insignia will get a lower high-gloss chrome brand bar that extends all the way up to the tail lights.

Interior

For the interior the center console was redesigned to be clear, simple and more intuitive. It features a drastically simplified black piano lacquer and chrome and more intuitive buttons for the infotainment system and air conditioning.

The revised Insignia is offered with a new 8-inch color display with touch operation. Thanks to this new display system, the driver can access all function and sub-menus such as radio stations, song titles, smartphone connection or 3D navigation map via button, touchscreen, voice control or the brand new touchpad.

Drivetrain

The revised Insignia will be offered with a choice of gasoline, diesel and LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) powertrains with power ranging from 110 to 325 horsepower.

Opel is offering a new 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine, in two variants: one with 120 and one with 140 horsepower. When combined with a six-speed manual transmission and Start/Stop system this engine consumes just 3.7 liters of fuel per 100 km in the combined cycle.

On the gasoline lineup most of the updates were made for the 2.0 SIDI Turbo engine which now delivers 250 horsepower and for the 1.6 SIDI Turbo with 170 horsepower.

All engines can be combined with a six-speed manual transmission and Start/Stop functionality or with a new, low-friction six-speed automatic gearbox.

Prices

On the German market the revised Insignia will be priced from €24,325 - about $33,000 at the current exchange rates.

Conclusion

The revised Insignia received no major updates, but everything Opel is offering is quite enough to make it look young and fresh. WE are pretty sure that all these changes will help it become even more successful on the European market.
