Not a lot of people know who or what the Bailey Blade XTR is.

That's about to change at the 2013 SEMA Auto Show->ke216 later this year.

As a project of Neal Bailey's BXR Motors, the Bailey Blade XTR has been in the oven for quite some time now. But the project car has yet to progress into an actual production car because, well, there wasn't enough money to do so.

But now, the money has been injected into the project and, thanks to a teaser video released by BXR Motors, the Bailey Blade XTR is mere months away from making its official debut at the 2013 SEMA Auto Show->ke216.

It's definitely a long time coming, especially since it has made various media rounds in the past but never got the opportunity to actually get up and running.

Needless to say, we're all excited to see what BXR Motors has in store for all of us when the Bailey Blade XTR finally makes its debut at SEMA later this year.

Exterior

Neal Bailey started to work on this project back in 2007, but only now he managed to find funds to finish it. According to the first details released on the XTR, it will weight anywhere between 2,200 to 2,700 pounds, depending on the options selected.

This low weight will be obtained by the intense use of carbon fiber and Kevlar, as well as a steel/composite chassis. The model will also be equipped with an active-aerodynamic package and will boast a 45:55 rear-biased weight split.

Interior

Few details have been offered on the XTR's interior, but from the few photos we have, it looks like the car will be equipped with Recaro sports seats, plus lots of leather and carbon-fiber insertions.

Engine

The most amazing part of the XTR lies under the hood. Under here, Bailey placed a Ford Racing-sourced 5.0-liter V-8 "Aluminator" engine with output levels ranging from 550 to 750 horsepower, which the website eludes to a supercharged engine being the base setup and a twin-turbocharger setup being the higher output-range.

This engine features an aluminum block, pistons and cylinder heads; forged-steel crankshaft and H-beam connecting rods; large sup oil pan; composite intake; and an 80 mm drive-by-wire throttle body.

The engine mates to a six-speed manual transmission and will sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds.

Suspension and Brakes

The new Blade XTR sits on 19-inch wheels wrapped in high-performance tires sized 275/35ZR19 up front and 335/35ZR19 on the rear. There is also a high-performance brake system featuring six-piston calipers up front and four-piston calipers on the rear. These front and rear calipers put the squeeze on 14-by-1.02-inch and 12.8-by-0.65-inch rotors, respectively.

Because we are talking about a very powerful sports car, Bailey also installed a four-wheel independent short/long arm double wishbone suspension featuring six-way double adjustable shocks with adjustable coilover springs and adjustable ride height control.

Prices

Prices for the Bailey Blade XTR will be announced during the car's official debut at the 2013 SEMA Show.

Competition

With the incredible amount of power delivered, the XTR will have no problem standing taking on the most powerful sports cars out there. But because SEMA is all about tuning kits, we are going to focus on upgraded sports cars delivering the same amount of power at the XTR.

2013 Audi R8 V10 by ABT Sportsline

ABT Sportsline is among the latest tuners to announce a serious upgrade kit for a sports car like the Audi R8. It is based on the V10 version and increases the output to 600 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque - up from the standard 525 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. With these upgrades, the ABT R8 will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and up to a top speed of 198 mph.

Conclusion

The developed of the Blade XTR took some time it’s true, but the result looks pretty promising. If Bailey decides to keep the price reasonable, then we are pretty sure it will enjoy some success.
