Anytime you hear an upstart automaker promise the world and deliver little to nothing, you get desensitized with the hype these soon-to-be-unveiled exotics->ke177 have. But something about Rezvani Motors->ke4833 is different, in large part because it's just debuted a supercar->ke177 with a ridiculously high bar attached to it. Rezvani is promising to shame other supercars with 'The Beast.'

Rezvani Motors has done a good job keeping the project under wraps up to this point, opting only to say that the Beast will make use of "lightweight racing->ke447 technologies" to go with an engine that will "leave other supercars in the dust." Very, very strong words.

But if you're thinking that Rezvani is drinking way too much hyperbole juice, the company remains unfazed about throwing out all these promises. After all, based on the newly released information and photos, the car might actually have a chance at stirring the supercar waters.

Whether it lives up to Rezvani's claim that the Beast will be the "purest driving experience" on the market today is still up to interpretation. Maybe with these claims, it's not unreasonable to expect the Beast to put down around 800-plus horsepower, right?

Exterior

Designed by Samir Sadikhov, the Rezvani Beast sports a streamlined open-top body with minimalist surfaces carved out of carbon-fiber. The raked hood is underlined by a pair of slim headlamps placed atop large, Lamborghini->ke44-like air intakes.

The theme continues round back with squinty taillights and a huge diffuser embraced by the bumper's angular side panels. Viewed from the side, the Beast seems equally aerodynamic as the muscular shoulders suggests the vehicle benefits from a tremendous amount of downforce at high speeds.

Interior

The manufacturer didn't have too much to say about the Beast's interior, but we're obviously talking about a no-nonsense design, without all the amenities supercar->ke177 drivers are accustomed to. The lightweight seats are likely made of carbon-fiber, while a roll cage has been fitted to take over in case of a crash. Enthusiasts that like picking flies out of their teeth after a day at the track can remove the windshield, a feature that's standard on all models.

Drivetrain

This is where the Rezvani Beast becomes really interesting, because what the company didn't mention while teasing the vehicle is that it is based on the Ariel Atom->ke564 - Britain's raw and lightning-fast sports car->ke506.

Basically a rebodied version of the latter, the Beast benefits from most of the Atom's underpinnings. However, more body to cover the base chassis also means more weight, so don't expect for Ariel's featherlight 1,350 pounds to remain in place. The difference is not huge though at 1,470 and 1,550 pounds respectively.

Anyway, the Beast can be ordered with a choice of two engines, which also define the vehicle's trim level. The Beast 300 is motivated by a turbocharged 2.0-liter that delivers 315 horses to the rear wheels via a limited slip six-speed manual transmission. The oomph enables it to reach 60 mph from a standing start in only 2.9 seconds.

Things are getting more spectacular with the Beast 500, which hides a supercharged 2.4-liter unit behind the seats. The larger powerplant generates 500 horsepower and pushes the sports car from 0 to 60 mph in a neck-snapping 2.7 seconds.

To help put all that power on the asphalt, each Rezvani Beast will have its RS05 PUR wheels wrapped in front 235/35/19 and rear 295/30/19 tires.

Competitors

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

The benchmark for all supercars remains the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. While there are other challengers to the throne, the Veyron SS is still considered as the one car that everybody wants to beat.

So it only makes sense that Rezvani wants the Beast to gore the Veyron SS out of the equation. That being said, that endeavor is going to be far easier said than done considering the latter comes powered by a 16-cylinder, 8-liter engine that produces 1,200 horsepower and 1,106 pound-feet of torque, good enough to allow the King of Kings to hit 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds to go with a top speed of 267 mph.

Ball's in your court to prove yourself, Rezvani Motors.

W Motors SuperSport

Another niche car builder with big dreams of reigning supreme in the supercar segment, W Motors presented the SuperSport late last year with the promise of turning the the industry upside its head.

W Motors has remained largely quiet on the specifications of the Supersport, but it looks like this archaic piece of Middle Eastern engineering will deliver "even better performance" than the HyperSport. This really gets our mouths watering, considering the HyperSport is powered by a mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged, six-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 750 horsepower. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and the speedo keeps climbing to 239 mph.

Conclusion

Just like the Ariel Atom it is based on, the Rezvani Beast is the perfect track toy, and the fact that it can also be driven on public roads only adds to the fun. Sure, it lacks the chutzpah you find in a supercar such as the Bugatti Veyron->ke1112, but this vehicle was built with only one purpose in mind: drive it at the track, obliterate your competitors and then drive back home. You can't do that in a Bugatti->ke16, right?
