Paris Motor Show

With the Paris Auto Show quickly approaching, we are awaiting the release of the GTI version of the Golf Mk VII . Unfortunately, VW has been pretty stingy with its information on the upcoming GTI trim, but the sneakiness that is the Internet, has picked up on some images and information on the upcoming Golf VII GTI Concept that is reportedly a near-production version.

We have already received just about all of the information available on the 2013 Golf Mk VII, but this sports edition is one that tuners everywhere seek out. The outgoing GTI is peppy enough, boasting a 200-horsepower, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that rips off a 0-to-60 sprint in just 7.3 seconds. While that’s no Ferrari, it is pretty sweet for a hatchback that gets 33 mpg on the highway.

With the performance and stylish appearance that the 2013 Golf VII GTI offers up, can VW really do anything to make this compact hatch even more desirable?

A while ago, we reported that Lamborghini was preparing to bid adieu to the current Gallardo supercar with one last special edition that will be unveiled at the 2012 Paris Auto Show. Today, with just a few hours before the show’s official launch, the Italian company has dropped a teaser video for this new Gallardo.

The video doesn’t show much about the new car, but it does feature a "Gallardo" logo towards the end. Then there’s the official description of the video which states "#nova is unveiling at Paris Motor Show 2012: September 27th - 9:00 am CET What’s next?"

Video: Lamborghini teases new "Nova" Gallardo; Rendering created

The word "Nova" sticks out like sore thumb in that description. The Italian word for "new" is "nuovo," so it can’t be describing the new Gallardo as many of us expected. "Nova’ is the Portuguese word for "new," but we just don’t see Lamborghini going all Portuguese on us. The logical assumption would be that Lamborghini is preparing to unveil another special edition model, which is what the guys over at LamboCars.com think. In fact, they have created a rendering of said "Nova" model, or could this be a leaked image? They state that the model teased in the video is the final edition in the Gallardo lineup. Their keen eyes noticed a Superleggera style wheel, carbon fiber exterior rear view mirrors, and a Gallardo seat. Bottom line: This may just be a special edition Gallardo that delivers more power than the LP560-4.

Guess we’ll just have to wait until tomorrow to get the official information on this mysterious Gallardo Nova!

As promised, the 2013 Maserati GranCabrio MC Stradale will be making its official debut next week at the Paris Auto Show, but unfortunately for Maserati, someone couldn’t manage to keep the car a secret. We have found the first images of the next GranCabrio MC leaked onto the internet in their beautiful drop-top glory.

As expected, the GranCabrio version looks identical to the GranTurismo MC Stradale version, except for its convertible roof. These leaked images didn’t have any specifications attached to them, but we expect the GranCabrio MC to feature the same technologies as its coupe counterpart. This means that it is powered by a 4.7 liter V8 engine that delivers a total of 450 HP. Performance numbers won’t be as impressive as the coupe since the convertible adds a bit more weight, but it shouldn’t stray too far from the coupe’s 0-60 mph sprint time of 4.6 seconds or its top speed of 186 mph. Its engine will also be mated to an electro-actuated six-speed manual gearbox that can shift gears in only 60 milliseconds (0.06 seconds) thanks to its computer control and optimized gear selection.

More details on the 2013 Maserati GranCabrio MC Stradale will be unveiled next week. Stay tuned!

French automaker Citroen has been relatively coy about their plans for the 2012 Paris Motor Show , but with the event a little over a week away, we’re slowly getting a good idea on what’s in store from Citroen.

One of the models headed to Paris is the DS3 Electrum Concept, an all-electric concept that promises to take the phrase of an electric supermini to new heights.

Details have yet to be revealed, but Citroen has said that the car can run a range of up to 75 miles and will be powered by a pair of 65 kW motors that has been fitted on the front axle with a Panasonic 17.5 kWh lithium-ion battery.

The automaker also describes the DS3 Electrum Concept as a car with "an innovative and non-intrusive design,” which means we’re expecting nothing short of stunning for this car.

That being said, we’re looking forward to seeing what the DS3 Electrum Concept is all about. Chances are, we’re not alone.

Seeing as the Paris Motor Show is the home auto show of Citroen , it’s pretty obvious that they’re going to bring a whole load of vehicles to the event.

With a little over a week before the doors to the event officially open, the French automaker is slowly unveiling their Paris-bound line-up, including a pair of special edition DS models carrying the "Pure Pearl" special edition designation.

One of these models is the DS4 Pure Pearl, which, as the name suggests, comes finished with a pearlescent white body color to go with touches of gloss chrome detailing and a new set of 18" alloy wheels. Other unique features of the DS4 Pure Pearl include an interior that’s been dressed in a watchstrap-style club leather upholstery that has been complemented with blue over-stitching.

For this particular model of the DS4, Citroen decided to give it a more powerful 1.6-liter HDi 160 engine instead of the standard model’s HDi 110 engine. What that means is that the DS4 Pure Pearl Edition comes packed with a tidy 110 horsepower and 199 lb/ft of torque and mated to an automatic transmission.

It’s not going to blow a lot of cars on the road, but for a hatchback of its caliber, it sure has plenty of promise.

The BMW X1 may need to watch out! With only a few days before its official debut at the Paris Auto Show, Volvo has unveiled the first official details on the new V40 Cross Country - a small crossover based on the new V40 that also offers off-road capabilities.

As far as power, the V40 Cross Country will be offered in two different petrol versions: T5 and T4. The T5 is powered by either a 2.5 liter five-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 254 HP or a 2.0 liter five-cylinder engine with 213 HP, along with a six-speed automatic gearbox. The T4 will be offered with either a 1.6 liter GTDi delivering 180 HP or a 2.0 liter engine with 180 HP, which can be mated to either an automatic six-speed Powershift transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox. Clients who prefer to go the diesel route will have a choice of a five-cylinder 2.0-liter D4 turbodiesel engine with 177 HP or a 2.0-liter D3 engine producing 150 hp.
