When BMW and Zagato teamed up to introduce the BMW Zagato Coupe at the 2012 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este a few months ago, nobody had any inkling that the two companies had more than just one project up their collective sleeves.

Needless to say, all of us were once again caught by surprise when BMW released a teaser photo of another concept collaboration with Zagato, which made its debut at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance.

We weren’t about to assume what this new concept would be, but we easily made out the image of a BMW roadster, which lead us to think it could be a roadster version of the Zagato Coupe we saw a few months ago.

Well, we were right about it being a roadster version of the BMW Zagato, but what we weren’t expecting was for the new Roadster to carry many characteristics that were all its own. This isn’t just a drop-top version of the Zagato Coupe, this is a whole new level of awesomeness mixed with the superb styling characteristics of BMW and Zagato.

The new generation SRT Viper was recently launched onto the market and already it has been joined by a stellar special edition. The Viper GTS Launch Edition was unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours and since many of us did not get the chance to be at the show, here’s a video that shows the exterior and interior of the new Viper, along with some driving scenes.

For those who do not remember, the new SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition is painted in the company’s famous blue finish combined with bright-white racing stripes. Under the hood, this special edition maintains the same 8.4-liter V-10 engine that delivers a total of 640 HP and 600 lbs=-ft of torque. It will only be built in a limited run, so anyone interested may want to hurry up and send in a check!

Jay Leno had a ton of fun at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours, taking in all of the luxury vehicles in attendance, including all of the concepts revealed. In the last episode of Jay Leno’s Garage show, Leno took his time reviewing the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento and the Urus Concepts, but his new episode focuses more on the other concepts presented at the show.

Leno got an up-close look at Infiniti’s fully electric Emerg-E , as well as the latest concept coupes from Rolls-Royce Bespoke and Mercedes-Benz. The first concept to be reviewed is the Emerge-E, which received less than stellar marks. Next, Leno takes a look at the Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupe which will be unveiled in production form sometime next year. His final concept to review was the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe Aviator Collection which is also set to be put into limited production.

The Bentley Mulsanne Vision is little more than a concept sketch to all of us so far, but that doesn’t stop us from using our imagination in creating it. We passed the sketch off to our talented rendering artist and he came back with a full scale image of what we think the Mulsanne Vision will look like.

Much like the current Mulsanne , the Vision model will boast the signature circular headlights and marker lights up front. It will also boast the same pronounced hood as the base sedan model that it’s derived from. One large difference on the front end of our rendered Vision and the current Mulsanne is that the lower grille in the Vision is open instead of grated.

As you continue down the front of the car, the Vision Mulsanne shows the same signature styling of the current Mulsanne sedan. The differences really come once you hit the doors. The Mulsanne Vision is, of course, a convertible model and features just a pair of doors, as opposed to the Mulsanne’s typical four doors and hard top. Short of those differences, the doors boast almost identical styling.

Once you reach the rear quarter panel, you catch a few more refinements given to the Mulsanne Vision to make it more muscular looking than its 4-door version. The body line that goes over the wheel arch on the sedan version shows elegance, whereas the Vision model shows some added aggression, as the body line starts lower on the quarter panel and swoops upward before sweeping toward the rear of the car, toward the ground, then back toward the rear of the wheel arch.

We are still unsure what’s under the hood of this massive drop-top, but we all assume that it will carry a 12-cylinder engine, as Bentley is reportedly killing off its 6.75-liter turbocharged V-8 engine .

Automakers usually take great pride in unveiling concept cars and while most of them don’t even see the light of production, they make for interesting talking points on what kind of car they could’ve been if they were produced en masse. Very rarely do you see a concept version get sent back under the covers without being seen by the public for the next 25 years.

But that’s exactly what happened last weekend at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance when Porsche brought out what can only be described as the evolutionary concept predecessor of the Panamera , the 928 H50 Concept.

It must be noted that the 928 H50 Concept bears a striking similarity to the 928s that were produced from 1978 to 1995. The overall profile is similar, including the long, sliding hood that harkens back to the aesthetic profile of the 928. There are some awkward lines in there and the front-rear balance appears to be skewed to the former, but for all of its resemblance to the old 928, the 928 H50 Concept has one thing the other doesn’t have: two extra doors.

We first heard that a special edition Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse was being built by Bugatti Beverly Hills for the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance a few weeks ago. Over the weekend, we finally got to see what the car is all about.

Based on the Grand Sport Veyron Vitesse, the special edition model came dressed for the party in grand style, featuring a unique bespoke Bianco and New Light Blue color scheme that was inspired from the 1928 Bugatti Type 37A. To fit into its special edition designation, the supercar was treated to a Bianco hue on the car’s upper body, as well as on a number of the car’s components, including the air scoops and the roof area. Meanwhile, the lower part of the supercar’s body has been finished in the New Light Blue color, which also covers the side skirts, the radiator grille frame, the front spoiler, the rear apron, the rear spoiler, and the inner surfaces of the wheel rims.

As for the interior, Bugatti Beverly Hills opted for Cognac leather with matching Light Blue inserts, a two-color set-up that is just as luxurious as the supercar’s two-tone body.

No modifications were done on the supercar’s engine, which means that you can expect to receive the same 7.9-liter 16-cylinder engine of the Grand Sport Vitesse with an output of 1,200 horsepower and 1,106 lb/ft of torque. Those numbers translate to a 0-62 mph time of just 2.6 seconds with a top speed of 255 mph.

No word yet on how many of these special edition models Bugatti will build, although they did announce that the car will sell for € 1.74 million. That’s about $2.15 million based on current exchange rates.

UPDATE 08/22/2012: The engine on the one-off Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Special Edition hadn’t even cooled from being driven onto the Pebble Beach lawn and the supercar had already scored itself an owner. Someone with deep pockets dished out a cool $2.5 million to call this special edition supercar his own.

Cadillac made its presence felt at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in a different fashion from the rest of its colleagues, and certainly different from their approach last year when they unveiled the Ciel Concept . Instead of dropping a world debut or even a US debut, the American automaker decided to show off their newest concept car...in a teaser.

Yep. Cadillac didn’t show a new concept and it certainly didn’t show a new production model. But they did draw up serious interest from a lot of people with what appears to be a new concept car that’s scheduled to make its debut at a future North American auto show in the coming year.

No details have been revealed, except for some comments made by Clay Dean, Cadillac’s director of advanced design, to Autoweek saying that the new concept will be the inspiration - or at least the peg - for the company’s new design language that touches on "American glamor meets American technology.”

If an award for vague teasers was given at Pebble Beach, Cadillac would’ve won it by a landslide. There’s not a lot to go by except for a multitude of speculatory guesses that touch on the long bonnet, wide wheel arches, and a unique tail lamp set-up.

Just two years after the first Mercedes-Benz automobile rolled off of the lineup, the newly joined team of Mercedes and Benz dove into the emerging sports car industry. Sports cars of the 1920s were nothing like they are today, but they were just as relatively advanced as today’s sports cars are to today’s econo-boxes.

This Mercedes-Benz sports car, dubbed the 680S Saoutchik Torpedo, was a marvel of its era, as it featured a perfect mixture of styling from various classes and areas. It was not only a sports car, but a luxury car too. In addition, it was a perfect combination of German engineering and French design, having been designed by Jaques Saoutchik.

To boot, it was the fastest sports car in the world at the time, making it a deadly combination. It’s no wonder that it just won the “Best of Show” award at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

“Quail: A Motorsport Gathering” is one of those events that always inspires special edition vehicles, most of which are bespoke – one-off production – vehicles. We already got a good look at BMW and Zagato’s beautiful creation and now we have Rolls-Royce getting in on the bespoke fun with a one-off Ghost. Rolls Royce displayed this custom Ghost at The Quail: A Motorstport Gathering to show what its Bespoke division is capable of.

This 2013 Ghost Extended Wheelbase is decked out with the official flower of California, the Orange Poppy, in various places in the car. The exterior of this Ghost bears a Carrara White and Mazarine Blue two-tone paint job with a Mandarin Orange stripe separating the two colors. This flawless paint job sits atop the Ghost’s hefty body with a glass-like finish.

The suicide doors open up to expose a mirror-like polished scuff plate that you likely wouldn’t want to touch, except with a soft cloth. This scuff plate dons the aforementioned poppy flower, which is seen throughout this beautiful car, and a "Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2012" stamp.

The seats feature the same poppy flower embroidered on the headrests. They are covered with seashell and navy blue leather with navy blue piping to set them off. The two-tone coloring proceeds onto the dashboard to keep the effect going. A cross-banded walnut burr veneer is inserted in the dashboard and boasts a navy blue clock in the center of it.

The rear seats are ventilated to keep your passengers cool and boast a massage feature to keep them relaxed too. There is also rear theater entertainment and a coolbox to help keep drinks nice and chilled.

We’re not too sure what’s in store under the hood of the 2013 Ghost "The Quail: A Motorstport Gathering" Edition’s hood, but we’re pretty sure it is the same 6.6-liter V-12 powerplant found in the 2012 Ghost that pumps out 563 horsepower at 5,250 rpm and 575 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm.

In conclusion, we like this one-off Ghost, though it is one of the less exciting ones this year.

McLaren Special Operations (MSO) was introduced to the public last year, as the customization arm for the famed supercar builder. Think of it like Mercedes’ AMG without the performance parts. We haven’t heard too much from this arm in the last year, but that is because they have obviously been extremely busy.

“Busy doing what,” you may ask. Well, they were busy taking an MP4-12C and turning it into a one-off machine like no other to ever roam the streets. This new monster is the brain child of one lucky McLaren client and McLaren designer, Hong Yeo.

The client actually came to McLaren three years ago looking for a car that was more unique than the McLaren F1 and Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren that he had already owned. The X1, which MLaren has just unveiled at "The Quail: A Motorsport Gathering," is based on the MP4-12C and was imagined as a timeless car with inspiration from multiple items, including: 1961 Facel Vega , a 1953 Chrysler D’Elegance Ghia, a 1959 Buick Electra , a 1939 Mercedes-Benz 540K , a 1971 Citroën SM , the Guggenheim museums in New York and Bilbao, a Jaeger LeCoultre art deco clock, an Airstream trailer, a Thomas Mann Montblanc pen, a grand piano, and an eggplant

That’s a huge list of inspirations, but when you look at the X-1, you can actually visualize where each piece may have gained its inspiration. Well, except for whichever piece was inspired by the Jaeger LeCoultre art deco clock and the Thomas Mann Montblanc pen, as we have no clue which clock or pen inspired it.
