Positioned at the crossroads between several existing vehicles: the SUV, the MPV and hatchback, the 3008 crossover represents a new and innovative offer, not only in the Peugeot range but also in today’s car market as a whole.

The architecture of the 3008 successfully combines a single-compartment body shape with a forward-positioned front windscreen with elements borrowed from the world of the SUV, such as its lower tailgate (or hobby), its plunging side windows and its raised driving position.

At the front, the Peugeot styling genes have evolved to adapt to the car’s generous size, while at the rear the wide sculpted flanks help to visually attach the car to the road.

The 3008 will be offered with a choice of six power trains featuring two petrol engines and two HDi FAP diesel engines with output between 110 and 156 hp. All the engine are coupled to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed automatic one.

Press release after the jump.

Peugeot will unveil the 3008 model - a small minivan which would also have a four-by-four version - at the Paris Auto Show this autumn. It will be based on the 308 small car that was launched last year.

A spokesman for Peugeot declined comment but added the brand would have several novelties at the Paris car show in October and said the platform 2, on which 308 is based, was likely to be used for other models as well.

<![CDATA[Peugeot 3008 to be launched in 2010]]> http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/peugeot-3008-to-be-launched-in-2010-ar52796.html

Peugeot will launch the 3008 SUV in 2010. It will come to compete with models like Ford Kuga, Nissan Qashqai and Volkswagen Tiguan.

It’s design will be inspired by its big brother, the 4007. The 3008 will be offered in five and seven-seat configurations, with the latter featuring a third row of fold-flat chairs.

Customers will also be able to choose between two and four-wheel-drive versions, with base models front-drive only, to keep emissions and fuel consumption as low as possible.

The future SUV will be offered with a mix of 1.6-litre turbo petrol and diesel engines.

<![CDATA[Peugeot 3008 SUV to be launched at the end of 2009]]> http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/peugeot-3008-suv-to-be-launched-at-the-end-of-2009-ar51342.html

The Peugeot 3008 SUV was supposed to be a secret until the end of 2009. But AutoExpress caught it testing in winter conditions. The 3008 SUV will join the range below the Mitsubishi-derived 4007 and will come to compete with models like the Nissan Qashqai and the Volkswagen Tiguan.

The 3008 SUV’s design will be inspired by the 308 RC Z Concept unveiled last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The SUV is internally known as the T8. It will be offered in both five and seven-seat configurations, with the latter featuring a third row of fold-flat chairs. Customers will also be able to choose between two and four-wheel drive on both models.

The SUV will borrow the engine line-up from the 308 line-up. These will include the turbocharged 1.6-litre seen in the 207 supermini, and shared with the new MINI line-up. Diesel models look set to account for the majority of sales, though, and the newcomer is likely to be offered with a choice of 1.6 and 2.0-litre HDi oil-burners.

Sales will start at the beginning of 2010.
