<![CDATA[Peugeot 308 RC Z Coupe spied]]> http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/peugeot-308-rc-z-coupe-spied-ar75410.html

The French automaker, Peugeot, will bring their own version of the Audi TT to the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. The production Peugeot 308 RC Z was caught working all the bugs out in testing, before the car’s official debut.

The design of the RCZ strongly reminds us of the concept as well as some of the familiar 308 design cues: like huge, sweptback headlights and the oversized front grille. The concept is powered by a twin-scroll turbocharged 1.6 Liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 218 HP. The production version will receive a naturally aspirated 1.6 Liter gas burning engine that will put out 120 HP; there will also be a 1.6 Liter turbocharged four banger as well as a complete range of turbo diesel power plants.

<![CDATA[Peugeot RC-Z production version to be revealed in Frankfurt]]> http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/peugeot-rc-z-production-version-to-be-revealed-in-frankfurt-ar73350.html

Here’s a new reason to wish the French sold cars in the U.S. Peugeot showed up to the Frankfurt Motor Show two years ago with the 308 RC-Z, a concept coupe based on it’s 308 series of small cars. Now it’s coming back to Frankfurt this year with the production version.

Unlike many production cars, much of the concept’s lines are rumored to be unchanged. This includes elements like the dual cowl top, large rear glass area, and sweeping roofline.

The top end 308 RC-Z should come with the same 218 hp 1.6-liter engine from the concept. Pricing should start at around £20,000 (about $29K at direct current rates.) That’s not too bad considering a base Audi TT coupe with 197 hp starts at about £25,000.

<![CDATA[Peugeot 308 CC]]> http://www.topspeed.com/cars/peugeot/2009-peugeot-308-cc-ar60532.html

After the first official images that surfaced the internet this morning, Peugeot revealed the official details and images of the 2009 308 CC, the 307 CC replacement.

The 308 CC has a prominent shape and spectacular LED rear lights that use “red light curtain” technology to create a unique signature for the car by day and by night.

The door panels also have an exclusive design, incorporating an elegant yet dynamic and robust metallic inner door handle. The sporty steering wheel, the special finish of the instrument panel and the “black lacquer” centre console complete this theme.

Two dynamic and flexible engines power the 308 CC through a six speed manual gearbox, unless an automatic gearbox is preferred. The two engines are the 1.6 litre THP 110 kW (150 bhp) turbocharged direct injection petrol engine and the 2.0 litre HDi FAP Euro 5 103 kW (140 bhp) diesel engine, the latter being also particularly environmentally-friendly.

Press release after the jump.

<![CDATA[Two new world records for Peugeot 308 HDi 110]]> http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/two-new-world-records-for-peugeot-308-hdi-110-ar57863.html

The intrepid husband and wife team drove a completely standard Peugeot 308 HDi 110 hatchback on a 25 day, 9,000 mile journey around the coast of Australia. During the record breaking journey they broke two world records by recording an unprecedented 1192 miles on just 60 litres of diesel fuel and an average fuel consumption of 90.75 mpg.

The Peugeot 308 HDi 110 hatchback now holds the World Record for both the highest average fuel consumption on a journey, a record previously held by a Peugeot 307 hatchback, and the record for the furthest distance travelled on a full tank of fuel.

John Taylor, one half of the economical driving duo explained the unusual journey: “We were very aware of the strong environmental credentials of the 308 before we set out on this journey; but we had no idea, however, that it would be such a record breaker. For us, the Peugeot 308 is the perfect family car; it can comfortably seat five adults and during our 25 day trip, the boot space proved itself too, swallowing up all of our necessary luggage.”
