The expressive and powerful silhouette of the 207 has been sculpted with passion by the Peugeot Style Centre. The stylists have succeeded in giving the 207 a unique feel with a blend of soft curves and bold contours, creating an elegant car whose exterior style has a recognisable visual link to the Marque’s other vehicles.
The design of the front of the 207 plays a very important role in affi rming its personality – its large «coachbuilder» bonnet marks the visual boundaries of the wings and locates in a chrome «U» the lion badge of the front grille, the emblem of the Marque. Its wide, high-tech headlights extend rearwards over a length of 780 mm towards the front windscreen pillars -. Encompassing the Marque’s new visual identity, the large and dynamic lower front panel with its «soft nose» adopts the principle of a wide air inlet seemingly «protected» by a black bumper bar. The lower front panel is available in different styles to identify different versions of the 207.
For example, the «classic» styling features a body-colour lower front panel with smooth lines protected by grained black or body-colour bumper end protectors, depending on version. The lower section can also accommodate the front fog lights. The «sport» styling fi nds expression in a more assertive design of the front. More generously curved, the latter comes with fog lights mounted in chrome surrounds on either side of a larger air inlet, on which the colour of the front grille can be aluminium on some versions.
The origins of the stylistic theme are echoed in the dynamic triangular profi le with a very low waist line that plunges forward to create an imaginary line running under the headlight. In a reference to the «Pique» and «Carreau» concept cars, the aerodynamically profi led wheel arches are combined with «fl ag» type door mirrors, with direction indicators at their base, to enhance the originality of the profi le, leaving the large wheels to accentuate the car’s overall elegance.
The design of the rear with its subtle curves creates an expression of size, while its lines offer the promise of accessibility and user-friendliness. Echoing the styling of the front, the lower rear panel conceals the exhaust pipe on «classic» versions or is shaped to reveal a chrome exhaust pipe on the “sport” version, expressing a sportier appearance. Regardless of styling, a black protective moulding, like that at the front, protects the rear of the vehicle. If the car is equipped with the rear parking assistance system, this black protective moulding very discreetly houses the ultrasonic sensors. The rear lights have a dynamic appearance due to an innovative process which accentuates the visual appearance with circles, spirals and diode-effect lenses. This effect makes them come «alive», making them clearer both during the day and indicates the 207 belongs to a Marque with a fondness for lights like «eyes».
Proportions that enchange a strong personality and suggest a generous interior space... The 207 is designed on PSA Peugeot Citroën’s number «1» platform, which it interprets in its own way by adopting a distinctive architecture that necessitated changes to a number of key dimensions. Measuring up to its ambitions- the 207 is characterised by the following dimensions:
A length of 4.030 m (+200 mm compared to the 206)
a wheelbase of 2.540 m (an increase of 80 mm compared to the platform’s «standard» wheelbase), enhancing road holding, active safety and interior comfort.
a front overhang limited to 829 mm and contributing to the passive safety of occupants and pedestrians.
an entirely new rear layout that enhances interior space, creates more useable space and practicality (a boot measuring 270 dm3 with a spare wheel well for example), while the rear overhang of 661 mm guarantees optimal performance in
terms of repairability.
A width of 1.720 m enhances passive safety and ensures a wider interior space.
A height limited to 1.472 m which contributes to the dynamic and aesthetic balance, giving complete freedom to «seat» occupants in the most ergonomic way possible.
Increased front and rear track (+ 30mm) compared to those of the “standard” platform on which it is designed, enhancing in particular the promise of good vehicle dynamics:
front track: 1.474 m
rear track: 1.469 m
Large diameter wheels fi tted with 185/65R15, 195/55R16 and 205/45R17 tyres with an average diameter of 620 mm also renders the style more dynamic.
