The architecture of the 3008 successfully combines a single-compartment body shape with a forward-positioned front windscreen with elements borrowed from the world of the SUV, such as its lower tailgate (or hobby), its plunging side windows and its raised driving position. At the front, the Peugeot styling genes have evolved to adapt to the car’s generous size, while at the rear the wide sculpted flanks help to visually attach the car to the road. The 3008 will be offered with a choice of six power trains featuring two petrol engines and two HDi FAP diesel engines with output between 110 and 156 hp. All the engine are coupled to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed automatic one. Press release after the jump. Press release Through its non-conformist approach and its resolute styling, the 3008, designed as a pioneering vehicle, offers an original solution and optimal versatility to customers in search of modernity, practicality, peace of mind and driving pleasure. Protective, versatile and status-enhancing, the Peugeot 3008, a crossover in all respects, opens up new motoring horizons. The architecture of the 3008 successfully combines a single-compartment body shape with a forward-positioned front windscreen with elements borrowed from the world Passengers can enjoy a generous and extremely comfortable passenger compartment (in terms of design, seats, acoustics, etc), where each occupant will feel naturally at ease. Thanks to Peugeot’s expertise and use of new technology, the 3008 offers road holding qualities worthy of the best saloon cars, no mean feat for a ‘‘spacious and tall’’ vehicle. THE PEUGEOT 3008, AN ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY CROSSOVERAt an early stage of the project, the search for optimal environmental effi ciency was a major priority, especially as the vehicle was a crossover. Particular attention was paid to the car’s aerodynamics (Cx of only 0.296), weight optimisation (lightweight materials, laser welding, etc) and Michelin tyres with a low rolling resistance (derived from the 308) are fi tted to most versions. Finally, from 2011, the 3008 will be the fi rst vehicle in the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group to benefit from HYbrid4 technology, as unveiled on the Prologue HYbrid4 concept car at the last Paris Motor Show. This technology, representing a real breakthrough in terms of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions (in the order of a 35% reduction), it also allows four wheel drive thanks to front wheel drive provided by the HDi FAP diesel engine and rear wheel drive provided by an electric motor. The latter also allows an ‘‘all electric’’ drive mode, i.e. with zero emissions.
10 comments: Peugeot 3008 Agreed. The interior of the car is not that great but I think with its awesome performance this one will sell like hotcakes. BTW, who said that American doesn’t want a diesel car?
I prefer a 2 liter fuel engine for this car! However, I agree that based on the picture this car would be identical to Honda Civic not really luxurious type!
Can’t you give a summary guys? Eight pages is kind of sleepy to read. IMO, there’s nothing spectacular on this car especially on the interior. However, its a good thing that they have offered a two engine option for this car.
well, i think it a crossover that clearly has a minivan side of concept.
its just okay, since the exterior is awesome. But i think the front and the rear where kind of over design.
Did you know that the Peugeot 3008 model offers a perfectly FL at floor from the lower tailgate hobby to the fascia panel.
If I would buy a car solely on the look of the interior, this car would be my choice. Too bad I don’t, and the design of the exterior is hideous on this one. But at least they have dropped the gigantic mouth theme, and it still looks miles better than the disastrous 4007.
Hmm. Quite what a comment about Ford brakes is doing in the Peugeot section, I struggle to comprehend. But despite a lot of negativity surrounding the looks of the 3008, I personally find it quirky and pleasing to look at. Horses for courses, I suppose. I remember the nonsense in the press when Ford broke away from tradition, when they introduced the Sierra. Now every man and his dog has a sweeping bonnet line. it’s strange to me- as well as Ford is executing pretty much everywhere, they can’t seem to get brake performance nailed down. Almost every review of a Ford vehicle has at least some gripes about the brakes, be it fade, or feel, or whatever.
Poor old Peugeot - they used to have some beautiful cars with tight surfaces; now they look bloated, ugly, and have no sense of direction. their current design director should be ashamed.
