Automobile tuners Irmscher are most commonly known for tuning Opels and other GM Europe models. With their RC line the tuning company has turned their attention to tuning another Euro-only brand: Peugeot , in particular the largest of the French built vehicles the 4007 . The vehicle has been upgraded with a lower front spoiler, metal skid plate under the radiator and a roof spoiler for added visual power. Irmscher also fitted a set of their signature 20 inch Evo-Star design wheels that make this Peugeot stand tall above the rest.
First launched in 1998, the 206 subcompact car turned out to be a very successful model and the 6.5 million units sold are the best proof.
The 206+ is intended for the core European market. It offers a range of engine options, with a 1.1 l petrol engine developing 44 kW (60 bhp) and a 1.4 l developing 75 bhp, as well as a 1.4 l HDi Diesel engine developing 70 bhp, keeping the carbon footprint under control thanks to CO2 emissions as low as 110 g/km.
The 206+ is thus a "range entry" product, in line with clients’ expectations: a benchmark car, modern and modernised, and above all accessible to as many people as possible, without compromising its appeal. Its interior has been designed with care, with a new "wave-look" dashboard and decorative touches that evoke the motorcycle world.
Peugeot is preparing to replace the current 407 . Its successor, the 408 will be revealed in December 2009 and according to the French Magazine Auto Journal might look like this. The 408 will share the same platform as the current Citroen C5 , but will clearly have its own identity.
Jerome Gallix, Peugeot’s design directory declared, "The new Peugeot will still be dynamic, but will feature a simpler design, more harmonious and more balanced." Translation: the 408 will be a revised car on the old car’s platform.
The big news is that next to the standard gasoline and diesel engine, the future 408 will also feature the HYmotion2 hybrid technology revealed by Peugeot in Paris.
PSA Peugeot Citroen is to follow its fellow frenchman Renault into the ultra-low cost car market . PSA is preparing a new entry-level car that will be produced and sold in emerging markets starting in 2011. The new low-cost model could be built in Turkey and Poland and likely to be powered by a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine.
It will initially be sold in eastern and central Europe, Russia, Turkey and north Africa under the Citroen and Peugeot brand names. PSA CEO Christian Streiff said the five-passenger sedan could eventually be sold in other emerging markets where PSA is present, including China and South America.
Peugeot unveiled at the Paris Auto Show the RC HYmotion4 , that according to AutoExpress previews the next generation of the mid-size 408. If this is true, earlier reports of the 407 ’s replacement looking only like a minor facelift will be dead wrong.
The RC concept uses a 1.6-liter THP turbo at the rear and a 70KW electric motor at the front. Although this is a functioning design study, the first engines available in the 408 will likely be more conventional.
Peugeot announced the winner for the fifth edition of the Peugeot Design Competition . The winner of the €10,000, prize is the RD Design Study created by Carlos Arturo Torres Tovar from Colombia. Designed to travel from one point to the other on the metropolis, the RD works mainly by an articulation that not only gives direction, but also is capable of reduce its size in moments of high traffic and low speeds, so the vehicle stays low at high speeds. In the drivers cabin the commands remains attached to the panoramic roof constantly.
The second place was won by the EGO designed by Emre Yazici from Turkey. Peugeot EGO is an electric vehicle for a single passenger and designed to weigh the quarter of the weight of an economy class four-door sedan. The bronze goes to the OXO designed by Lou Ke from China. The OXO is designed to change its shape to better fit in parking spaces.
The winner RD will be presented in life-sized at the April’s Shanghai Motor Show 2009.
Peugeot unveiled the Prologue concept at the Paris Auto Show last week. It is a hybrid SUV that will see production by 2011. It will be built in Kaluga, Russia, 180km southwest of Moscow.
The PROLOGUE HYmotion4 concept car incorporates an incredibly innovative power train: HYmotion4 technology.
This name represents the hybridization of a traditional engine (a 2.0 litre HDi FAP with a power of 163 bhp) with an electric motor offering a maximum capacity of 37 bhp. This unit is characterized by an original mechanical layout, since the HDi engine is situated in its usual place under the bonnet and drives the front wheels, while the electric motor, placed at the rear under the bootfloor, drives the rear wheels.
Therefore, there are no mechanical components between the front and the rear, everything being controlled electronically (“by wire”), allowing optimization of space in the passenger compartment.
The end result is a 4-wheel drive vehicle offering reduced fuel consumption in the combined cycle of 4.1 litres/100 km and CO2 emissions of 109 g/km.
Peugeot unveiled at the Paris Auto Show the HYmotion3 compressor, a three wheel drive vehicle. It’s a gas/electric hybrid that is kinda like a cross between car (or golf cart) and a scooter. With small size come fuel economy (CO2 emissions of only 47 g/km in the combined cycle, zero in electric only mode).
This vehicle incorporates HYmotion technology, also featured on other concept-cars in the Peugeot exhibition space at the Paris Motor Show. This new generation hybrid technology incorporates the supercharged petrol engine already featured in the Peugeot Satelis scooter. With a power of 15 kW (20 bhp) driving the rear wheel, it is combined with two electric motors, each with an output of 3 kW, located in the front wheels.
This configuration develops a maximum power of 21 kW (29 bhp) for a particularly low fuel consumption of 2.0 liters/100 km and CO2 emissions of 47 g/km in the combined cycle, or 0 in electric only mode.
The Peugeot RD Concept, designed by Carlos Arturo Torres Tovar from Columbia is one of the ten finalists of the 5th edition of the Peugeot Design Contest 2008.
The RD concept is a 3 wheels car perfect for traveling through the busy traffic of a city. The interesting thing about this concept is that the car is able to change direction and to become more compact during heavy traffic and low speeds. The big front window offers the driver the best view of the surroundings, and also offers all the necessary information the diver commands talking to the car. The concept has no doors, only the front window that is also the roof of the car.
The RD is a great looking concept that could change the way we travel through the big cities.
Peugeot announced today the 10 finalist of the 5th edition of its design competition. This year’s theme was to imagine the worldwide megalopolis of tomorrow and design a car for the city of the future. Peugeot required designers to incorporate four aspects (environmental awareness, social harmony, interactive mobility and economic efficiency) into each submission.
