A new concept that entered the Peugeot Design Contest is the OMNI Concept created by Darko Markovic. The Peugeot OMNI is a strange and unusual car that uses the Omni wheel concept of the great designer from past to make sure that there are no parking problems in today’s cities. Thanks to the Omni wheel the car can spin and turn around at an instant making it easy to maneuver.
The Omni wheel idea belongs to the Swedish automobile designer Bengt Ilon, who created in 1973 a wheel that could move in any direction at a given time. His idea was to attach many roller-wheels around the rim of the main wheel to enable the wheel to spin in any direction and change angles at an instant. The rollers were oriented at an angle of 45 degrees with the wheels axis of rotation.
The Peugeot OMNI is an awesome concept that tries to show us the car of tomorrow.
The 5th Edition of the Peugeot Design Contest has an interesting theme: “Imagine the Peugeot in the worldwide megalopolis of tomorrow”. This theme makes the designers that enter the contest to include in their concept car design environmental awareness, social harmony, interactive mobility and economic efficiency.
Alexei Mikhailov entered in the Peugeot Design Contest with his eco-friendly concept car Henosis (in Greek it means unity, oneness). Alexei Mikhailov design a vehicle that unites the driver with the machine, in such a way that the car can analyze the environment, driver’s mood, expression, and body temperature to provide the most comfortable and safe driving experience.
The design wants to explore the new possibilities of car construction in order to obtain the perfect body. The car, made from light weight carbon nano tube polished aluminum, looks like a space vehicle made not to be driven on the road, but to explore new planets.
Few months ago we were speaking about the new partnership between Peugeot and the German tuning house Irmscher. Today the partnership brought another masterpiece, a fully customized Peugeot 207. The body kit of the car contains special painted front lip, side skirts and a new roof spoiler.
At the interior the vehicle features a sport steering wheel, an aluminium gear knob and stylish recaro seats covered in red and black leather. A plus of sportivity was added by the new ”lambo” doors which complete the entirely sport kit. More details when the official information will be released!
Although Eibach is a German tuner and it supposed to present a German car, the tuning company unveiled its latest customization programme for the French vehicle Peugeot 308 SW. The tuner fitted the vehicle with a new set of alloy wheels but also with a new suspension system which lowers it with up to 30 mm, improving in this way the ride quality but also the looks. Of course all the parts have TUV approval.
After the first official images that surfaced the internet this morning, Peugeot revealed the official details and images of the 2009 308 CC, the 307 CC replacement.
The 308 CC has a prominent shape and spectacular LED rear lights that use “red light curtain” technology to create a unique signature for the car by day and by night.
The door panels also have an exclusive design, incorporating an elegant yet dynamic and robust metallic inner door handle. The sporty steering wheel, the special finish of the instrument panel and the “black lacquer” centre console complete this theme.
Two dynamic and flexible engines power the 308 CC through a six speed manual gearbox, unless an automatic gearbox is preferred. The two engines are the 1.6 litre THP 110 kW (150 bhp) turbocharged direct injection petrol engine and the 2.0 litre HDi FAP Euro 5 103 kW (140 bhp) diesel engine, the latter being also particularly environmentally-friendly.
Peugeot revealed the first official images of the 308 CC that will go on sale in the spring of 2009. As you can see from the images, the design is clearly inspired by the 308 RC Z Concept that debuted last year.
With almost same dimensions as the 3 and 5-doors hatchback versions, the 308 CC will also keep the same engine line-up with a diesel hybrid version to also be offered.
Peugeot is preparing for a new fresh family of cars. And the first in this family will be the luxury coupe 504, that will be launched at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The design will be inspired by the 308 RC Z Concept and will be similar in size with the 407.
Mechanicals are likely to be shared with Citroen’s C5, so the car could get a powerful 2.7-litre V6 diesel and air-suspension.
Peugeot is also working on successors for the 204 and 205 in an attempt to become the leading manufacturers of low-CO2 cars.
First launched in 1889, Peugeot has nearly two hundred years’ experience in mechanical engineering and 50 million vehicles produced (the annual equivalent of the current global car market).
Since 1889, Peugeot has developed more than 160 models, from the Type 1 to the Type 190 S of 1929, and 34 ranges, from the 201 to the 308, all with an assertive style and always ahead of the times.
This motor car history, founded and governed by the firm’s values, is a treasure trove of stylistic flair, punctuated by inventions and technical innovations. It is the foundation that supports the development of a manufacturer whose models today are built in 24 production sites around the world.
Peugeot draws its strength from its history and its experience. A manufacturer who can look towards the future and who is able to draw strength from its past and be respectful of the men and women who have fashioned its success.

Peugeot will unveil the CC (Coupe-Convertible) version of its latest 308 in the spring of 2009. Spy photographers caught a prototype of the future convertible testing in southern France.
The new 308 CC will feature the same front-end design as the hatchback version and will get a retractable hardtop that folds in two parts.
Car’s dimensions (length and width) won’t differ much from the 3- and 5-door hatchback.
Under the hood Peugeot will keep the same engines as in the hatchback version, but a diesel hybrid version will also be offered.
