2008 Peugeot 608

Peugeot 608

Peugeot is working on a replacement for the current 607. Peugeot will inspire the 608’s design from the 908RC concept car’s shown at 2006 Paris Auto Show. The frontal shape of the 908 should give you some ideas of the new Peugeot 608. The 608 will be developed from the Citroen C6 platform. It will debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show.

The 607 is suffering from a deficit of notoriety and also from a lack of top-of-the-range motorizations. The new top-of-the-range from the french carmaker will use a lengthened platform of 407 and should also have the same traveling trains.

The 608 will be slightly longer than the 607, but it will remain under the 5 m length bar. The design will be an evolution of the 607 following several themes presented in recent concept cars. The front design of the next 608 is not accurate but the side profile is representative of a subtle approximation to the 4-door coupe class pioneered by Mercedes in the CLS model.

The gasoline versions will be animated by a 2.2 engine with 16 valves and 163bhp and the V6 with 215bhp. A revised version of the 2.7 HDi V6 will also make an appearance but with power boosted above the current 200bhp as well as an all new petrol V6. You can also expect an AWD model. The diesel engines will be: a 2.2 HDI biturbo delivering 170 hp and a V6 HDI with an output of 207 hp. There is also a possibility that Peugeot will add a V8 engine under the hood of this car. The car will feature a six-speed automatic transmission.

2008 Peugeot 308 SW

Peugeot 308 SW

Peugeot will unveil at the Geneva Motor Show the 308 SW, first shown as a concept version in 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The 307 SW is a unique and original concept which combines a number of strengths such as driving enjoyment, onboard comfort and convenience, comprehensive equipment levels and good load carrying abilities.

The 308 SW is available with a wide choice of modern, high performance, economical and environmentally-friendly power trains. Eleven are on offer in total, to meet the requirements of the widest possible customer base. Five petrol engines, from 70 to 95 to 175 bhp including a “BioFlex” option and three HDi diesel engines, including two which are fitted as standard with a Diesel Particle Filter System (FAP). They are available with either a five speed manual gearbox, four speed automatic or an all new 6 speed manual gearbox.

The 308 SW range, which will differ between individual countries, will consist of five trim levels between now and the summer of 2008. The entry level will, however, take the place of the “Estate” version of the 307 range. It will be fitted with a traditional steel roof and a folding rear bench seat, and will be aimed at customers mainly in search of an accessible vehicle with lots of space.

Finally, available in ten exterior colours, several different interior trims combined with either cloth or leather based interiors, the 308 SW range will have a version to appeal to the most demanding customers.

Press release after the jump.

2008 Peugeot 308 GT THP

Peugeot 308 GT THP

The 308 GT THP will go on sale starting April.

Peugeot 3008 SUV to be launched at the end of 2009

The Peugeot 3008 SUV was supposed to be a secret until the end of 2009. But AutoExpress caught it testing in winter conditions. The 3008 SUV will join the range below the Mitsubishi-derived 4007 and will come to compete with models like the Nissan Qashqai and the Volkswagen Tiguan.

The 3008 SUV’s design will be inspired by the 308 RC Z Concept unveiled last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The SUV is internally known as the T8. It will be offered in both five and seven-seat configurations, with the latter featuring a third row of fold-flat chairs. Customers will also be able to choose between two and four-wheel drive on both models.

The SUV will borrow the engine line-up from the 308 line-up. These will include the turbocharged 1.6-litre seen in the 207 supermini, and shared with the new MINI line-up. Diesel models look set to account for the majority of sales, though, and the newcomer is likely to be offered with a choice of 1.6 and 2.0-litre HDi oil-burners.

Sales will start at the beginning of 2010.
