2008 Peugeot Prologue
A second concept to be revealed by Peugeot at the Paris Auto Show (next to the RC) will be the Prologue concept car. Anticipating future trends, the Prologue proposes an innovative combination of ideas at a number of different levels: its architecture, its style, its interior ambiance, its modularity, its original high-tech equipment and also its new generation hybrid technology. In fact, thanks to this technology, this 200 bhp car offers unexpected levels of performance combined with significantly reduced CO2 emissions: 109 g/km in the combined cycle, or zero in electric only mode! 2008 Peugeot 908 HY
Peugeot will unveil at the final round of the 2008 Le Mans Series at Silverstone the 908 HDi FAP equipped with hybrid power featuring a kinetic energy recovery system. The 908 HY can be powered in one of three ways: electric mode only, internal combustion engine only, a combination of the two. The system features three key elements: a 60kW gear-driven electric motor-generator which takes the place of the conventional starter motor, batteries which permit recovered energy to be stored in 600 lithium-ion cells divided into 10 battery packs and an electronic power converter which controls the flow of energy between the batteries and the motor-generator. Full story Peugeot considering low-cost brand?
According to La Tribune, Peugeot might launch a new brand in Europe for its low-cost models. The company is considering building low-cost models in emerging economies where labor is cheaper, and then bringing them to western Europe under a new brand name. The newspaper said the group did not want to risk damaging its Peugeot or Citroen brands and was considering using one of the names form the past it owns, such as Talbot. Peugeot returning to USA?
It’s a long shot, but Peugeot may end it over 15 year absence from the U.S. market. Peugeot is looking to expand into new segments with new models. "Currently, we are covering 72 percent of the segments," Jean-Philippe Collin, head of PSA Group’s Peugeot brand said. "In the future, it will be more than 90 percent." This expansion includes production of a diesel hybrid that will begin in 2011. "We are going to offer the diesel hybrid in the upper mid-range and in the crossover segment," Collin said. With North America possibly looking for more diesel and hybrid cars, it seems that a return to the U.S. market is again conceivable. "We are not ruling out going back to the U.S.," he said. "We are closely watching the opportunities resulting from the crisis in North America. But the U.S. isn’t high on the agenda. China, Russia and South America are our priorities." 2008 Peugeot RC
Peugeot uses the designation "RC" to show where it will be taking its designers in the future. This latest car is certainly falls under this catagory considering the actual name is "RC..." Just like the Peugeot RC concept cars of 2002 and the 908 RC of two years ago, this RC is the future of Peugeot. Although darkness distorts these pictures, the car’s long hood and sloping roofline are still clearly visible. Powered by a 313 hp gas/electric hybrid engine delivering CO2 emissions of 109 g/km in the combined cycle or ZERO in electric mode. According to Peugeot, "the RC… is an accessible and versatile car, with four doors, four seats and a highly innovative hybrid architecture”. It believes the eco-efficient RC... is a car that combines the combining respect for the environment with driving pleasure. We expect more details about the car to be coming soon before the official viewing at the Paris Auto Show in October. .

If you think that today’s "green" cars are something fabulous that will save the planet thanks to the fuel they use, you are wrong! The Peugeot ONE concept could be the solution for a cleaner environment. Peugeot ONE is a new type of non polluting vehicle, a very strange and special one that runs on solar energy. Designed by Omar Ivan Huerta Cardoso, this amazingly and innovative concept uses its windshield to capture the solar energy and transforms it into the energy needed by the car. This single seater uses a Gyroscope system for the stability, and features a rather unique suspension system. Peugeot OMNI
A new concept that entered the Peugeot Design Contest is the OMNI Concept created by Darko Markovic. The Peugeot OMNI is a strange and unusual car that uses the Omni wheel concept of the great designer from past to make sure that there are no parking problems in today’s cities. Thanks to the Omni wheel the car can spin and turn around at an instant making it easy to maneuver. The Omni wheel idea belongs to the Swedish automobile designer Bengt Ilon, who created in 1973 a wheel that could move in any direction at a given time. His idea was to attach many roller-wheels around the rim of the main wheel to enable the wheel to spin in any direction and change angles at an instant. The rollers were oriented at an angle of 45 degrees with the wheels axis of rotation. Henosis - the next generation vehicle
The 5th Edition of the Peugeot Design Contest has an interesting theme: “Imagine the Peugeot in the worldwide megalopolis of tomorrow”. This theme makes the designers that enter the contest to include in their concept car design environmental awareness, social harmony, interactive mobility and economic efficiency. The design wants to explore the new possibilities of car construction in order to obtain the perfect body. The car, made from light weight carbon nano tube polished aluminum, looks like a space vehicle made not to be driven on the road, but to explore new planets. Full story Peugeot 207 by Irmscher
