Porsche celebrates the Carrera GT with an invitation-only run at Silverstone
It’s been a day full of car videos, but we’re certainly not complaining. And while we’ve been having a steady diet of drag races recently, we’ll take a little break from the tarmac and show you the recent Porsche Carrera GT celebration, which was hosted by Porsche for some of its owners at the Silverstone race track. It’s about the closest thing we can have to a Porsche Carrera GT overload, which, by no means, is a bad thing. Here we have a video of the Porsche Experience at Silverstone. At this event, owners of the Carrera GT were invited by Porsche to try out the newly-renovated Silverstone track and participate in a number of tests on the purpose-built Porsche test tracks. The video also features an interview with one of the Carrera GT’s designers, Tony Hatter, as he explains the history of the supercar and how it came to be one of the most iconic cars in Porsche’s history. Finally, the video concludes with interviews from some of the owners who participated in the event, most of which attest to the supreme awesomeness of owning a Porsche Carrera GT. The video’s about four-and-something minutes long, which really is enough time or us to drool over the thought of sitting behind the wheel of one.

Did you miss it? We surely did! Even if the Porsche Carrera GT has been out of production for a long time now, it was put to the test at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone. Just the sheer thought that this beauty was reviewed even after Porsche ceased its production illustrates how phenomenal this car really is. The camerawork in this video provides us with a look at every angle of the Carerra GT and we like what we see. The curvy design of the Carerra, with its large side inlets and air dams, paints a picture of speed. The Carerra GT doesn’t just look fast; it is fast. The Carrera GT’s V10 engine delivers a maximum output of 612 bhp at 8000 rpm and maximum torque of 435 lb-ft at 5750 rpm. Top speed is 205 mph. There aren’t a lot of things in this world that can roar up our juices quite like seeing a supercar perform some serious burnouts. And just like a double shot of espresso, the only thing better than seeing one car do it is seeing two of them do it at the same time. That’s what happened at a recent supercar meet in LA when two Porsche Carrera GTs were captured on video - among other mouth-watering supercars – roaring up their engines and giving all of us a taste of that monstrous power sitting underneath their hoods. Of course, we would have liked it better if they’d gone full throttle, but then again, we can’t expect to get everything we wanted in this world, right? It appears that more and more super cars are turning themselves into BBQ pits. While Californians are roasting marshmallows over million dollar automobiles like the McLaren F1 and Ferrari F-430, in China it would seem that they prefer to use something a little more German. This time it was a Porsche Carrera GT that blew a fuse and spontaneously combusted in Shanghai. At least the car happened to be on a circuit at the time, where a couple of valiant corner workers were on hand with plenty of fire extinguishers.  One might argue that with the recent rise of super car conflagrations combined with the current economic downturn could lead speculators to believe that perhaps some of these open fires were owner motivated in an attempt to turn an expensive toy into a liquid asset. However, even if the reason for the Porsche’s fire remains unknown. Due to the track day situation we can assume that it was just a severely overheated engine. Either way, the men with the fire extinguishers have inadvertently proved that the black Carrera GT looks good with a white top and matching rims. Gemballa Mirage GT Gold Edition
After revealing the Mirage GT Carbon Edition and the Mirage GT Matt Edition, Gemballa has now come up with an all new customization program for the V10 powered Porsche Carrera GT super car.  The new Mirage GT Gold Edition comes with a few exterior accents finished in gold and a golden carbon fiber weave. The Gemballa creation features a host of ultra-light aerodynamics components, a ground-breaking hydraulically height-adjustable coilover kit and a some carbon fiber elements painted gold adorning the interior of the uberCarrera. The engine has been tuned to deliver a maximum output of 650 HP and 464 lb-ft of torque. This insane amount of power means that the Mirage GT Gold Edition can sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 208 MPH. Red Matte Porsche Carrera GT
A matte black finish not looks good, but it is also one of our favorite was to cover a car. However the owner of this Porsche Carrera GT super car took the dull exterior to a whole new level with this shade of red. This particular version belongs to an Arabian guy (no surprise here!) and was spotted on the streets of London. Gemballa Mirage GT Matt Edition
The Porsche super tuners Gemballa have just revealed their latest toy, the Mirage GT Matt Edition, a flat black version of the hottest Carrera GT ever made. The matte wears a bodykit that is identical to the Cardon Edition revealed back in February except that this one is given a stealth like appearance by the lack of reflective surface.  The interior is a stark contrast from what’s outside, the colorful center caps on the wheels are the only aesthetic touches to the exterior, but the inside has been recovered in beautiful blue and grey suede. Even the headliner now matched the seat inserts, steering wheel and dash. The GT is powered by a Gemballa V10 engine that delivers 670 HP and 465 lb-ft of torque. The new stealth special edition is capable of hitting a top speed of 208 MPH. The vehicle’s acceleration has been improved as well; reaching 60 MPH in 3.7 seconds and 125 MPH in just 9.7, the stock vehicle can hit those speeds in 3.9 seconds and 9.9 ticks of the chronometer respectively. The super car tuners, Gemballa, have just revealed the low down on their Mirage GT Carbon Edition that was announced back in February. This very unique creation gives Porsche Carrera GT owners the opportunity to fully transform their German speed machine in to this wild carbon creation, for the measly sum of 298,000 euro, or about $423,000. However the production run will be extremely limited, Gemballa is only planning on popping five examples out of the mold. So hurry up and place your orders. The aero package was designed for speed; it includes a front apron with larger openings and extra ducts on the sides, just like the lower side skirts. An area of low pressure sucks the Mirage to the road at speed thanks to an integrated diffuser underneath the car and an oversized GT wing up top. The Gemballa slices through the air thanks to a little extra power from a retuned ECU and free flowing exhaust system. The result is 670 HP from the Porsche built 5.7 Liter V10. The Mirage GT Carbon Edition will be able to go from 0 to 60 MPH in 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 208 MPH thanks to the new aero. Press release after the jump.
