Long wheelbase Porsche Panamera in the works
 
In the short time that it has been out on the market, the Porsche Panamera has evolved into one of the brand’s most popular models. So much so, in fact, that Porsche is already working on producing an extended wheelbase version to cater to those who have been clamoring for one. Details behind the extended wheelbase version of the Panamera are still a little murky at this point, but with demand in the US and China for an extended Panamera in the uptick – at least according to Porsche’s research department - the German automaker could be looking into breaking into a market that already features luminaries like the Audi A8 L, the Mercedes S-Class, and the BMW 740Li. In the event that an extended Panamera gets the green light for production, you can expect it to stretch all the way up to the 120-inch range, up from the current Panamera’s length of 115 inches. The release of the extended wheelbase version of the Panamera is still being pegged down the road - possibly around 2012 - so don’t expect it anytime soon. Having said that, customers that have been demanding for a longer Panamera should be happy knowing that Porsche is definitely listening to their client’s requests. Anderson Germany already amazed us with some impressive tuning packages - Gallardo Balboni or Ferrari California are just two examples. And the latest one they have revealed for the Porsche Panamera is no exception. The package is based on the Panamera 4S version and includes interior and exterior updates, but also a significant 85 HP power increase. Called Black Edition, the Anderson Panamera is all about black color, on both exterior and interior. The exterior is colored in a complete satin black painting combined with a new set of 22" wheels painted in black with red-painted brake calipers. On the interior the package adds carbon leather and black Alcantara with red trim and diamond seams. For the engine update, Anderson Germany is offering an exhaust system with Rennkats and software optimization. Both of them offer an increase from a total of 400 to 485 HP. For a car that has many Porsche enthusiasts up in arms, the Porsche Panamera isn’t scaring away any tuners from modifying the luxury sports sedan inside and out. We’ve seen kits from Mansory, Vorsteiner, Edo Competition, and many more, but we have a feeling that none of these tuning kits will hold a candle to the amount of carbon fiber that is juts oozing out og TechArt’s new kit for the Panamera. Dressed in head to toe carbon fiber, TechArt’s Porsche Panamera GrandGT is nothing short of CB heaven. We’re talking a new front apron with a front grill insert and splitter, a rear diffuser, the gurney flap of the dominant rear spoiler, and the air ducts at the flanks of the car all made up of this highly touted material. The use of carbon fiber has lead to an impressive dimensional stability, great strength, and a low intrinsic weight. The same carbon fiber overhaul was also brought into the interior with the dashboard and the door panels, as well as the center console panels and the illuminated door entry guards all dressed to impress with the same carbon fiber. Since it seems that carbon fiber was the only way to go for this tuning project, we didn’t really expect any engine modifications at this point. However, if we had our way, we’d bring back the engine mod done on the last TechArt Grand GT. That kit brought out 571 ponies and 830 Nm of torque, which would complete this carbon fiber package rather nicely. 2011 Porsche Panamera Bright Yellow Edition by Mansory
Luxury tuner, Mansory, is taking another stab at Porsche’s odd little sedan with a new tuning package for the Porsche Panamera coming out of one of their most important dealers: PrestigeCars.ae. Right off the bat, anyone can see that the brightest addition to the special edition Panamera Mansory Bright Yellow Edition is that luminous yellow exterior paint job, but what we can’t see without hopping in and taking it for a drive is the impressive engine update provided for the sporty sedan. The name says it all when talking about the exterior paint color, but another notable feature is the blue carbon fiber thrown into the mix. Yellow is then brought back with the new set of wheels painted in the sunny color. Thank goodness we are not tired of that color combo just yet as the tuner has also brought the same color design to the interior. Apparently this edition was created at the request of a client who wanted a special Panamera. All we have to say is that they definitely got what they asked for, and we expect what they paid plenty for as well. Next to the Michigan-colored paint job, the Panamera also received larger turbo chargers and a stainless steel sports exhaust system that increase the engine’s power to a total of 690 HP and 800 NM. The result is a sprint from 0 to 62 mph in only four seconds and a top speed of 203 mph. 2011 Porsche Panamera 4S Middle East Exclusive Edition
It may not be one of the most prestigious motoring shows in the world, but the Qatar Motor Show will still feature a steady diet of new vehicles that are going to be catching a lot of attention real soon. One automaker that’s already stamped its attendance at the event will be Porsche, and the German automaker is set to bring a special edition, limited-run model exclusively for its Middle Eastern clientele. Ladies and gentlemen, get set to be introduced to the Porsche Panamera 4S Exclusive Middle East Edition. The special edition Panamera 4S will be exclusively sold in this region and will only be limited to 66 units. It’s not going to be one of those cars that we can just buy at any Porsche dealership in the Middle East so we can pretty much expect that this vehicle will be reserved for some of the power players in the region. Speaking ahead of the car’s debut, Deesch Papke, Managing Director of Porsche Middle East and Africa, said: "This is a very special model introduction for us as it underlines the importance of our region. Porsche has never built a vehicle solely intended for the PME region before to meet the unique demands of our customers. We invite all Porsche aficionados to visit the Porsche stand at the Qatar Motor Show and use their chance to see the first of only 66 models worldwide." Until Porsche will finally decide to bring a convertible version for the Panamera, tuners would like to offer us an idea on how a model like this might look like. This project however does not start its life as a Panamera, but as a Nissan 350Z Roadster. The conversion was made by Fairy Design and put on display at the Tokyo Motor Show. With this project the owner wanted to create something unique that will catch attention at the show. For that simple mods like wheels, body kit and air ride were not enough. So he started to modify the 350Z starting with custom air brushed murals in the hood and side body panels, Panamera inspired headlamps, an impressive white exterior paint and a new set of wheels. While we are not 100% we agree with his idea, we have to admit: the car is really an eye catcher, and for sure it got lots of attention in Tokyo. Updated 11/08/2011: Apparently this guy is very proud of his work as be brought this strange looking Panamera in Las Vegas. While deciding on the worst tunings displayed at the SEMA Show, this is definitely one of the cars on our list. When it comes about Edo Competition we are used to hear about tuning packages for supercar models. But this time the German tuner tried to play a little bit with the Porsche Panamera Turbo. Called Moby Dick, their package is mostly focused on improving the car’s performances, but the exterior and the interior also received a series of updates. A standard Panamera Turbo is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine that develops a total of 500 HP. Not bad at all for a luxury sedan, but Edo Competition managed to squeeze an impressive 750 HP. For that the tuner made some ECU modifications and added a redesigned exhaust system with four large stainless steel exhaust tips and butterfly valves. With the new numbers, the Moby Dick will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds and will hit a top speed of 211 mph. The car sits on new 22 inch wheels and comes with a lowering module that offers precise handling and improves the vehicle’s dynamics.  Top Gear USA is starting to really come around as the US version of the famous car show heads towards the end of its very first season. Eventually we see the trio of Adam Ferrara, Ruttledge Wood, and Tanner Foust coming into their own and not constantly being compared to Clarkson, Hammond, and May, but that’s still a long ways off. The US hosts need to spend a lot more time in the hot seat before they can rid themselves of the constant criticism and ridicule. Nonetheless, we’re beginning to love the show and most of the hosts. Sorry to say, we still love to hate Adam Ferrara. Episode Eight of Top Gear USA was just jam-packed with goodies, as Tanner and Ruttledge try to figure out if its faster to fly or drive from LA to Las Vegas, Bret Michaels takes a turn on the Top Gear test track, Rutt and Tanner review a Porsche Panamera Turbo and a BMW X6M, respectively. Tuning firms are great at providing kits that quench the desires of just about anyone wanting to get a little more speed and style. Not many kits are going to please everyone, so tuners often provide kits that start off small and then graduate to bigger and better. That’s the case with the kit provided for the Porsche Panamera Stingray that Top Car revealed in March. This kit allowed the Panamera to jump to 542hp, but now the Russian tuners have created an even better tuning kit that brings that much more power for the speed hungry. The Porsche Panamera Stingray GTR is only in its sketch phase, but from these pictures we can see a wider bodykit with a new front bumper, new vented hood, new side skirts, and a new rear with new sport exhaust system with four end pipes. A new set of alloy wheels also adds to the style of the Panamera. The main focus on this project will be to reduce the overall weight so more carbon fiber elements will be utilized on the exterior and interior to achieve this. The main improvement for the vehicle will be made under the hood. While a standard Stingray develops 542 HP, the GTR version will go up to 600 HP. Now that’s more like it. N.Technology have been working hard on their latest version of the Panamera S Racecar, but it seems as if H&R are grabbing the reigns and providing the racer with their own set of modifications due to be unveiled at the Essen Motorshow in a few days time. This racing version of the Porsche Panamera is the only Panamera racing car in the world and it is also the only model able to secure the pole position three times, but H&R are apparently up for the challenge of making it even better. The extra work on the Panamera racer can’t exactly be called "extensive" by any stretch of the word, but H&R did fit it with their superior suspension technology to better equip it to deal with the 4.8L V8 that is tucked nicely under the hood. Shooting out 500 ponies, this Panamera can now ride smooth and hug tight corners with the best of them. Since this is a race car, the vehicle is covered in carbon components and racing livery. It is driven by well–known race driver Fabrizio Giovanardi as part of racing team "N. Technology." Some may have seen it make its way around the track, but the first and only racing Panamera can be seen for the first time up close and personal during the 2010 Essen Motorshow.
