The all new naturally aspirated Porsche 911 GT3 and even sharper GT3 RS have just received a few new lightweight components from the German sorts car builder’s Motorsport Division aimed at making some of the best purpose built Porsches even better. Like all of Porsche’s high performance components these new pieces have been track tested and not only give the GT3 an edge over the competition but they also give the cars a much sportier appearance. The new program focuses on replacing the car’s standard parts with units made from lightweight materials: like carbon fiber side mirrors, a titanium tailpipe that turns blue when it is exposed to elevated exhaust temperatures, the rear deck lid and Gurney flap are made out of lightweight carbon fiber further reducing the 911’s curb weight and because carbon is much more rigid than the traditional plastic parts the Porsche engineers were able to enlarge the openings without worrying about the parts failing. Last but not least, the Porsche Motorsport Division has come up with the next generation 19 inch GT3 wheel. The rollers are designed to attach to the car via a forged aluminum center locking wheel nut just like a real racing car. So if you are looking to take your GT3 to the next level, then consider adding a few of these high performance arts from Porsche. Press release after the jump. Press release Starting in September, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is offering a new product line for retrofitting motorsport accessories on all Type 997 models of the GT3 and GT3 RS. Using these special components, the enthusiast is able to further customise the exterior of his car with weight-optimised materials such as titanium and carbon also used in motorsport. The new double tailpipe made of titanium, for example, reduces the weight of the car at the rear, the white-metallic patina of the tailpipe turning blue when exposed to high exhaust temperatures, like on many racing cars. The titanium-coloured second-generation 19-inch GT3 wheels complete with central locking are likewise a new feature in the range. The wheel bolts are made of forged aluminium and finished in red eloxy-plating. To customise the first generation of the 911 GT3 and GT3 RS (Type 997), there is also special a model designation in various colours extending round the wheel. The special trim film used for this purpose is made of the same highly resistant material as the starter numbers on racing cars for lasting quality. |
