2010 Porsche Cayenne Diesel by RUF

  Review

If you want your Porsche to be tweaked to its maximum capacity, many would automatically check out RUF. This German tuner specializes in all things Porsche and are known to refine and enhance Porsche’s models better than most. Their most recent concoction is a tuning package for the Porsche Cayenne Diesel. This new kit is available in two upgrade versions with a max output of 310 HP (from a standard 240 HP). The package can be applied to the Cayenne version powered by direct-injected 3.0 liter V6 turbo engine mated to eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission.

In the first package called the Upgrade One, the Cayenne Diesel’s performance is increased to 288 hp with a peak torque of 580 NM. It includes the optimization of the electronic engine management system and is priced at 3,850 € plus VAT. In the second package, Upgrade 2, the power boost is taken to an awesome 310 HP and a peak torque of 630 NM. This upgrade includes a modified turbocharger and the optimization of the engine management system and is priced at 7,300 € plus VAT.

We enjoy a good power boost just as much, if not more, than anyone, but a couple of exterior modifications would have been nice to see on the Porsche. RUF has decided against those types of upgrades at this point, but we are hoping they will add a bit of style to this package at some point.

Press release after the jump.

Press release

The new Cayenne Turbo is powered by a direct-injected 3.0 liter V6 turbo engine. With its eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission and a reduced vehicle weight, this SUV feels and drives lighter than ever before.

For whom the standard power of 240 hp (176 kW) is not sufficient, RUF Automobile GmbH, in the bavarian town of Pfaffenhausen, now offers two performance increases:

In Upgrade 1, performance is increased to 288 hp (212 kW) through the optimization of the electronic engine management system. The torque rises by 22 lb-ft (30 Nm) to a maximum of 428 lb-ft (580 Nm). The price, including installation is 3,850.- €, plus VAT.

For Upgrade 2, power increases to 310 hp (228 kW) by the incorporation of a modified turbocharger and the optimization of the engine management system. The maximum torque is raised to an incredible 465 lb-ft (630 Nm). The price, including installation, is 7,300.- € plus VAT.

Both performance enhancements are available immediately.

hmm. I think you shouldn’t expect for a powerful  and high performing figure since its not a sports car, 50 hp are enough for a daily used car.

I prefer the 2011 version. I don’t find this car kind of powerful, although I find it cheaper compare to its competitor.

Cool idea, and I dig the old school 911 headlights, but that grill gives it the new Mazda smile.

I’d take one. Perfect for wifely to run around town in to take the kids to football practice (noticed I didn’t say soccer, that’s a they sport), pick up groceries, and run to the mall. And for me, trips to Lowes, the gym, take the dog to the park, and to the sports bar to watch the game. All places that are less than 20 miles away from the house *Cool idea, and I dig the old school 911 headlights, but that grill gives it the new Mazda smile.

Though it probably wouldn’t be much use if you’re chased through a mall by baddies in a Corvette.

Upgrading it on the second package is much better and you’ll get a better performance.
