2011 Porsche 997 650-R SS by Merdad

  Review

In the wide world of automotive tuning, there’s something to be said for UK tuner Merdad and its penchant for producing new body kits for a number of Porsche vehicles, the most recent of which was a program for the Porsche Cayenne. Now the tuning firm is at it again with a new program for the Porsche 997 Turbo S. Called the 997 650-R SS, the modification program comes with a full Merdad Body styling kit that includes a new bonnet, a new front spoiler, front skirt with air intakes, new side skirts with twin air intakes, wider wheel arches, a new rear bumper, and a set of new 20" alloy forged lightweight wheels that was created exclusively for Merdad.

Merdad-exclusive items have also been added to the 997, including a new super sound exhaust, carbon fiber 2-door guards, and a complete set of Merdad logos and badges.

Performance modifications haven’t been announced yet. That being said, we’d love to see what they have done with the Porsche 911 Turbo’s supercharged flat six boxer engine because, well, we’d expect them to get a lot more than the standard 530hp and 516 lb/ft of torque. If the title says anything about the output - which we hope it does - maybe we are looking at 650hp Turbo?

The whole list of modifications will £19,995, which is around $31,500 based on current exchange rates.

UPDATE 12/05/11: Merdad has updated its gallery of the 997 650-R SS with some cool, new photos. Check out the newly released photos of the finely-dressed sports car in the gallery below!

I’m so impressed with the new bonnet of it. It looks awesome on this, and they are right that the matted hood of this only adds more appeal on this vehicle. Moreover, it’s a good thing that it has a powerful engine.

I didn’t find either that its matte color is the reason of the aggressiveness of this vehicle. Sure! It looks good on that but not really so cool! Anyway, I feel excited about the performance modification of this one!

So, it seems that Porsche comes up with a matte color though, for some reason, I don’t think that this car looks aggressive in that color. However, still I have a positive thought about the modification. I’ m excited to hear the full details.

There is really no doubt that this vehicle is a good-looking and a very attractive vehicle. However, I noticed that it seems it doesn’t have any interesting feature on its interior.

Even though it is only looked like their typical vehicle, I’m still impressed on this Porsche for it as yet looks so cool and awesome. It sounds great either that they maintain its powerful engine.

Its matte hood only adds more appeal on this Porsche. Well, I can’t already wish for a better convertible vehicle than on this. I am really expecting a more powerful output, but I’m still satisfied on what it has now.

I think it would be better if they have tuned a high speed performing vehicle instead of building this one. However, its a good thing that they have offered a boost in the engine performance of the vehicle.

hmm. I think the matte color of the vehicle doesn’t fit on the car. Actually, I really don’t appreciate the full black paint job of the vehicle since it covered the detailing of this car.
