The Porsche 918 Spyder has become an extremely sought-after supercar, and considering that it's still in its prototype stages, it's become one of the most highly anticipated ones too.

Now we know how automakers are careful with divulging too much with their prototype models so they resort to the tried-and-tested method of dressing these models up in camouflage. Porsche has obviously done this on numerous occasions, but for the 918 Spyder, they're taking a slightly different route.

Together with long-time partner Martini Racing, the German automaker has revisited the iconic Martini Porsche race cars by dressing up the 918 Spyder Prototype in the legendary Martini livery.

Development of the Porsche 918 Spyder is still ongoing with the car now moving its extensive testing phase to the Nurburgring. Apparently, riding around one of the most famous tracks in the world has conjured up nostalgic emotions and the result is one of the most awesome liveries to ever be dressed on a Porsche.

Exterior and Interior

The 918 Spyder features a monocoque body that's built from carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP). It's a material that not only reduces the car’s weight but also delivers remarkable rigidity and precision.

Thanks to recent spy shots, we know that there is enormous center console that seems to be inspired by the console found in the Carrera GT, but it also gets a large LCD screen in the middle. A few dials and control interfaces are visible below the screen, but it’s clear that the large screen will be a touch screen.

Porsche has tried to keep everything camouflaged, but it’s also obvious there will be plenty of carbon fiber used for the upcoming supercar’s interior. Spy shots also reveal a red indicator that shows what gear the car is in and a few gauges that help the driver be in control of his vehicle. The sports seats also reveal the "918 Spyder" logo stitched into the headrest. The tachometer appears to have a 9000rpm redline, and the word "Charge" also appears on it, while aluminum paddles complete the look.

Engine

The Porsche 918 Spyder combines a 570 HP 4.7 liter V8 engine with two electric motors at the rear and front axles, producing a combined output of 770 horsepower. The 918 Spyder also has fully variable aerodynamics, adaptive rear axle steering, and a “top pipes” exhaust system.

With nearly 800 HP, the supercar will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds and will go up to a top speed of over 200mph.
