Now that Porsche has officially uncovered the new generation 911, the time has come to direct our attention towards the next two models the German automaker is scheduled to be reveal: the Boxster and the Cayman. While the Boxster has garnered its fair share of attention, the time has come to talk about the Cayman. Like with the new 911, exterior and interior changes will be minimal, with the biggest change being made under the hood. As you might know by now, the next Boxster will grow in dimensions, with the same treatment expected to be applied to the Cayman. Thanks to a longer wheelbase, the next Cayman will also feature longer rear-quarter windows, a longer roofline and a roomier interior. As for the engine, the Cayman will get a new four-cylinder engine, just like the Boxster. The final output hasn’t been revealed just yet, but it should deliver an output similar to the current one: around 265 HP for a standard model and 315 HP for the S version. The engine will be mated to a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic. An official debut is expected for early 2012. Updated 02/02/2012: The new Porsche Cayman has been caught testing somewhere in a German city and this time is shows some of its interior. And as expected it will be similar to the recently announced Boxtser. Updated 03/13/2012: Today we have added a new rendering for you showing the Cayman S. Enjoy! .
10 comments: Porsche Cayman Well, I would still prefer the original look of Cayman. Sure, it is also a good-looking one but not so attractive as what its earlier look is. Anyway, I hope that it is not an electric vehicle.
The wheel of Cayman is truly so cool for it, and I must say that I’m also very impressed with its aesthetic design which I noticed that it was oozing with appeal and angst.
Cayman is definitely a good-looking car on its aesthetic design but very aggressive appearance. I’m also glad that it can offer a two engine option, but sorry to say that I’m not satisfied with those engines.
Yeah! I think also that they should really have enhanced or boost the poor engine of this Cayman had, but I also have to admit that the platform and other detailing that this car had is absolutely looking great on it.
I don’t think that the engine of this one is not enough for this kind of car. Porsche absolutely needs to focus more on how they will upgrade the engine of it, but anyway, it is obviously a good-looking car.
Boxster and Cayman had a different beauty, and I must say that they are both appealing even though they look very similar. Anyway, I hope that they would upgrade the engine and horsepower of this one.
With 315 horsepower, it is definitely not enough to have a better performance for this kind of car. I think they should upgrade it first, but anyway, it absolutely looks so striking on that design.
I think it was only okay if they copied some styling on the Boxster because it’s still producing by Porsche. Anyway, I can say that the looks of this Cayman is more stunning than Boxster but I don’t think that its engine is quite good enough for it.
I guess, this car is gonna hit the road when you least expect it. I can’t wait for 2012 to take a glance on its final output, though some must be copied from its sibling (Boxster).
