Porsche->ke1 has dropped the details on the special edition->ke2041 Panamera Exclusive Series that it plans to unveil at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.->ke211 The model is based on the equally opulent Panamera Turbo S Executive and will be limited to just 100 units. If the car’s name is any indication of what we can expect, the Panamera Exclusive Series will feature a laundry list of fancy upgrades on the saloon’s exterior and interior.

The German automaker thinks highly enough of the Panamera Exclusive Series that it’s even giving the car its own airtime at the LA Auto Show. You might not think it's worthy of its own spot in LA now, but once you find out all the unique details Porsche Exclusive gave this particular Panamera, you’ll probably hunt it down in the City of Angels just to get a close-up look at it.

The Panamera Exclusive Series is only available as a left-hand-drive model. That’s too bad for our friends in the UK and all other right-hand-drive countries. Porsche has made no indication of how many models are earmarked for the U.S., but considering that it’s making its debut in Los Angeles, I’d be very surprised if the U.S. allocation is anything less than 20 to 30 models.

Exterior

The Porsche Panamera Exclusive Series distinguishes itself with a unique two-tone, hand-painted body that features a dominant deep-black-metallic finish with a gradient Chestnut Brown metallic contrast running below the door handles, extending all the way to the rear doors. That effect is not only an great way to distinguish the Exclusive Series from other Panamera Turbo S Executive models, but it also breaks up the monotony of the black body in a classy and stylish way. By the way, the fact that it’s hand-painted makes it even more impressive to look at.

The other unique design traits of the Panamera Exclusive Series’ exterior are the air inlet grilles and the of 20-inch Sport Classic wheels, both of which carry the same deep-black-metallic finish as the body.

Interior

The exterior of the Panamera Exclusive Series is incredible, but the interior upgrades are what makes this model special. Porsche Exclusive dressed up the seats and lower door panels with Poltrona Frau leather in Agatha Chestnut Brown color. Meanwhile, the upper door trim received black milled Nappa leather with contrasting Chestnut Brown stitching. Take a close look at the center panels on the seats and you’ll notice that they’re perforated in the likeness of the company’s iconic crest. The decorative interior trim elements continue the same two-tone theme, blending similar shades of classic walnut burl wood and Piano Black lacquer.

Outside of the obvious luxury touches, the Panamera Exclusive Series gets the honor of debuting the automaker’s new Rear Seat Entertainment System Plus, a new package that includes a pair of high-resolution 10.1-inch touchscreens neatly installed in the back of the headrests. The touchscreens come with built-in cameras and an integrated DVD player. A Burmester surround-sound system and cordless headphones are also part of the package.

Further distinguishing the 100 examples of the Panamera Exclusive Series are tags showing a model’s individual limited-edition number, a handmade badge located behind the front air intakes, and a five-piece luggage set made from Poltrona Frau leather. The luggage set is an optional extra, but they do underscore the model’s status as real and exclusive limited edition.

Drivetrain

Since the Panamera Exclusive Series is based on the Panamera Turbo S Executive, the model comes with a 4.8-liter, V-8 engine that packs a beefy 570 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. Put the pedal to the floor and it can rocket from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds to go with a top speed of 192 mph with the Sport Chrono Package.

Fuel returns aren't particularly impressive at just 15 mpg in the city and 24 mpg highway, but that shouldn't be a problem for those who want to buy one because they can probably afford to pay for gas, too.

Prices

The Porsche Panamera Exclusive Series is now available for order and has an MSRP of $263,900, not including a destination charge of $995.

Competition

Aston Martin Rapide S

The Aston Martin Rapide S doesn't have the exclusive upgrades of the Porsche Panamera Exclusive Series. Then again, not many cars do.

The Rapide S comes with a naturally aspirated, 6.0-liter, V-12 engine that delivers 558 horsepower 457 pound-feet of torque. It's a little short of the Panamera Turbo S Executive's output, but the gap is incremental in the grand scheme of things.

The difference in torque, though, is a little worrisome for the Rapide S. That an 133-pound-feet deficiency slows the Rapide S's 0-to-60-mph time to 4.9 seconds, more than a second slower than the Panamera Turbo S Executive.

The Aston Martin Rapide S is priced at $198,250, a few thousand dollars cheaper than the $263,900 of the Porsche Panamera Exclusive Series.

Conclusion

The two-tone gradient body is definitely an eye-catching detail. Add that to the luxurious interior, the new Rear Seat Entertainment System Plus, and the optional, five-luggage set and you have a special-edition model that lives up to its billing.

The price of the Panamera Exclusive Series is going to drive some people off, but if you value the added premium and exclusivity being offered with this limited edition model, you might have an easier time justifying the amount it's going to cost you to take one home.
