An auto show as big as SEMA is bound to have some cars that fall through our cracks. But hey, better late than never, right?

At its core, this is a 2014 Ford Mustang , but once you add in all the layers, including the work put in by Mustang tuner extraordinaire Roush Performance, this Mustang is turned into a pretty ridiculous racecar that’s been dubbed the 2014 Roush Performance Mustang RS3 for Road Racing World Challenge.

Beginning next year, this fantastic racer will be part of the grid at the Pirelli World Challenge series’ GTS class and Roush Performance really went to town to ensure that it has the performance credentials to be a serious contender in the racing series.

The most noticeable upgrade is definitely the aesthetic work, which includes a new livery that was created as an homage to Jack Roush Jr.’s personal track car. A slew of aerodynamic enhancements were also given to the Mustang, highlighted by the massive rear wing and a colorful set of wheels that really add to the explosive color of the muscular racer.

But the real highlight of this Mustang racecar is the extensive engine upgrade Roush Performance put into it. Using its Stage 3 Mustang package, which includes an R2300 supercharger with Eaton Twin Vortices Series (TVS) technology and Roush’s High-Efficiency Intercooler, and an OE-level PCM Calibration, the tuner was able to increase the car’s output to an impressive 575 horsepower and 505 pound-feet of torque.

Add a Ford Racing "Aluminator" Engine and a Phase 2 program and the output increases to 625 horsepower. A similar addition, but this time with a Phase 3 program and you’re looking at an output of 675 horsepower, more than enough, we reckon, to be a serious competitor.

In the latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, Robert Tallini from "Road Race Sports" brought a pair of highly updated 500 Abarth racecars for Leno to test.

According to Tallini, the black 500 Abarth racer pushes out about 250 horsepower, thanks to a new turbo, intake, exhaust and other mods. Along with the engine modifications the two cars also offer a roll cages and some carbon-fiber body work that transform them into real race cars. The best part is that both of the Abarth racers are also street legal.

The stock Abarth 500 is powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine that delivers a total of 160 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. With this amount of power, the Abarth 500 can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in about 7 seconds and up to a top speed of 129 mph.

It goes without saying that Ken Block’s Gymkhana series has taken on a life of its own. It’s already on its sixth installment and every year, it seems that the stunts are getting crazier and crazier.

For "Gymkhana 6: The Ultimate Grid Obstacle Course," we’re treated to Ken Block laying waste to one of the most incredible man-made obstacle courses we’ve ever seen. It also features a pretty randy Ford Fiesta ST RX43 racer — a car that we haven’t seen a whole lot of — take on a slew of items, ranging from excavators, customized trailers, cops riding on Segways and even a pair of Lamborghini Aventadors . The latter two, we surmise, were made possible by Block’s recent tie-up with Need for Speed.

We’re not going to spend a whole time gushing about Gymkhana 6. Instead, we’ll leave it up to Block to show you why the Gymkhana series has become one of the most must-watch spectacles in stunt drifting. So crank up those speakers and enjoy...

The first teaser image hit the Internet yesterday and now Ferrari has revealed the new 458 Challenge Evoluzione racecar, which made its world debut at the Mugello Circuit just one day after the Ferrari Challenge Finali Mondiali. The supercar builder will use the new model starting next year in the Ferrari one-make series, and it will hit the market in the upcoming weeks.

The 458 Challenge Evoluzione racer underwent its first public test on a windy and rainy day at the Tuscan raceway, which soiled some of the fun. Despite the rain spoiling the fun, these conditions helped prove that it is all to take on the competition on the tarmac.

For the 2014 model year, the 458 Challenge Evoluzione features an improved aerodynamic kit that includes a new rear wing for increased downforce, and up front it gets a new splitter and an updated floor. These changes improved its lap times and long-distance efficiency, making it a real threat to all comers. According to Ferrari, these changes will be mandatory on cars taking part in next year’s Challenge.

Ferrari has yet to release what’s going on under the new 458 racer’s skin, but we assume that it will carry the same 4.5-liter, V-8 engine that puts down 562 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. We do expect to see some lightening modifications to make it accelerate and handle better than the stock 458 Italia.

Lotus has announced the launch of a new track-only model based on the new Elise S . The new model, which is called the Elise S Cup R, will enter the 2014 Lotus Cup series in different countries around the world. This new race is priced from £39,125 (about $62,700) in Europe and $66,650 in the U.S.

The Elise S Cup R is powered by the same mid-mounted, 1.8-liter 2ZR-FE engine found in the Elise S, but with updates needed for the race track. The engine features a Magnuson R900 supercharger with Eaton TVS technology, and it mates to a six-speed manual gear box as standard. This allows the Elise S Cup R to put down 217 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque — the same as the stock Elise S.

The new Elise S Cup R rides on forged alloy wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan Neova tires sized 175/55R16 up front and 225/45R17 on the rear. Lotus also installed a new TCA suspension kit and a new high-performance brake system with twin-piston, fixed aluminum-alloy front brake calipers, 288-by-26 mm (11.3-by-1.02-inch) rotors, and single-piston, sliding rear calipers.

Inside, the Elise S Cup R gets your typical racing equipment, like a roll cage, fire extinguisher, six-point harness, HANS-compliant racing seat, quick-release wheel and a polycarbonate rear window.

Chris Harris took a siesta from the likes of the Ferrari F12berlinetta and Alfa Romeo 4C in the latest episode of Drive, and he went to something a little bit more intense and high-tech: an 850-horsepower, electric racecar from Drayson Racing .

The only problem with this electric racer is that the batteries only last 10 to 15 minutes, but according to Harris, "when it’s running, this thing scrambles your brain." We’ll take his word for it on that one, especially when we consider the enjoyment and fear he displayed while whipping this monster around an airport runway.

This race-ready EV is powered by four axial-flux motors (two per rear wheel) with an integrated transmission. This system delivers a total of 850 horsepower and helped the car to hit a record speeds of 204.185 mph.

In what has become somewhat of a tradition for Chevrolet at SEMA , the Bowtie-bearing brand is preparing to introduce a new version of its drag-racing mastodon, the COPO Camaro.

At the 2013 SEMA Auto Show, the COPO program returns with all the design tweaks and modifications given to the 2014 Camaro. This time, the factory-built dragster will immediately hit production with the same 69-unit allocation, making it another must-have Camaro for enthusiasts and drag racers alike.

The 2014 COPO Camaro will also come with a pair of new racing engines, including a revised take on the naturally aspirated 427 engine, as well as a supercharged version of the 350-cubic-inch engine that we first saw tucked comfortably under the hood of the 2013 COPO Camaro. The latter will also receive a 2.9-liter Whipple, screw-type compressor, as if all the mechanical workings done on the engine aren’t enough on their own.

Naturally aspirated 350- and 396-cubic-inch engines are also set to be offered for the 2014 COPO Camaro, giving buyers plenty of options to choose from as far as their preferred engine choice is going to be for their Camaro drag racer.

All 2014 COPO Camaros come standard with an NHRA-approved roll cage and suspension, and feature an exclusive live rear axle.

In somewhat of another similar move, or possibly to drive up the car’s PR-worthiness — as if it needed any — Chevrolet will send the first production COPO Camaro to Barret-Jackson this coming January for the Scottsdale, Arizona Auction. The proceeds from the auction will be sent directly to the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans.

There’s plenty to love about the 2014 COPO Camaro. We’re sure that a lot of people share our sentiments, which is to say that those interested in scooping one up better get their finances in order before all 69 models are accounted for.

Everyone has their own way of celebrating a victory, but Infiniti Red Bull Racing has one of the most interesting ways.

The team just won the 2013 Formula One World Constructors’ Championship, and Sebastian Vettel, won the World Drivers’ Championship for the fourth year in a row. To celebrate this outstanding result, Red Bull released a video showing former F1 driver David Coulthard doing doughnuts on the helipad of the Burj Al Arab hotel, in Dubai.

What’s very cool is that the Burj Al Arab hotel has a total height of 1,053 feet, so you could likely imagine what may have happened if Coulthard lost control of the car even for a second. On the other hand, that height is well out of the jurisdiction of any police, so Coulthard could have all the fun in the world without worrying about the red and blues.

In Formula 1 competitions, the success of a team depends a good bit on the speed of its pit crew and how fast the driver can exit the pit. The entire entry and exit of the pit requires excellent strategy and absolute precision by the entire team.

You can imagine that a pit stop would require a few minutes, given all of the work that the crew needs to get done (tires, fuel, etc.). Actually, anything in excess of just a few seconds would actually ruin the race for the entire team.

At the Japanese Grand Prix 2013, Ferrari managed to pull off the pit stop ever, as the team needed just 1.95 seconds to put Fernando Alonso back on the racetrack. Yes, you read that right: 1.95 seconds. Now this is what we call efficiency, don’t you think?
