Radical Sportscars->ke3734, the company behind some of the most outrageous track-day toys on the planet has just released its newest machine: the Radical RXC Turbo. Thanks to a continuing partnership with Ford and a tuned 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, the RXC Turbo can make the blitz to 60 mph in under three seconds and will reach a top speed of 185 mph. This far surpasses the performance available with last year’s non-turbo RXC that was powered by a Ford 3.7-liter, V-6 engine.

A born racer, the Radical RXC Turbo comes with FIA approved crash boxes front and rear, and the outrageous body work can produce almost 2,000 pounds of downforce at top speed.

Even though its race ready, and features a host of race specific parts, this Radical is street legal. If you ever dreamed of parading through town in a Le Mans-style racer, this is the car for you.

Interior

Traditionally the interior of a Radical consisted of seat, wheel, pedals and all the air in the cabin. The RXC looks to break that tradition by offering the most comprehensive list of interior options ever available on a Radical. Not only do buyers get power steering and a heated windshield, but the RXC Turbo also comes with air conditioning, and you can order leather or Alcantara for the seats and dash. Increasing the cabin comfort beyond the leather surfaces, the RXC is available with multiple levels of carpet and sound deadening materials, letting you decide if you want to save weight, or cut NVH.

Drivetrain

The big news of the RXC Turbo, is the turbocharged engine that powers it. Based on the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 found in the Taurus SHO and Explorer Sport, this tuned six-cylinder has had its power boosted to 454 horsepower. Torque is an astonishing 500 pound-feet, and all that twist is available from just 3,600 rpm.

Sending all that power to the rear wheels is a custom seven-speed gearbox from Quaife.

This potent drivetrain allows the RX Turbo to hit 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds and continue up to a top speed of 185 mph.

Suspension and Brakes

The RXC keeps its tires to the pavement with a bespoke suspension setup from Intrax Racing. It is an inboard push-rod system with double wishbones at all four corners. Four way adjustment is standard, including camber and geometry adjustments; GT-3 style.

Stopping duties for the RXC Turbo are handled with fully floating disc brakes with rotors that measure 13.8 inches up front and 12.2 inches in the rear. Each rotor is clamped with six-pot calipers. For a better track-day experience, a carbon-ceramic brake kit is available as an option.

Pricing and Availability

Current pricing of the Radical RXC Turbo sits at £107,500. That is roughly $177,000 at the current rates. That seems like a stiff price to pay, but when you can hang with a Bugatti Veyron from light to light, it really isn't that high.

If you want to park one of these in your garage, and you live in the U.S., we have some great news. The Radical RXC has just been cleared as road-legal in America. Better yet, the car was cleared in California, so it should be a 50-state car.

Competitors

Ariel Atom->ke564

The Ariel Atom is one of the few hardcore track rat toys that would be able to keep up with the Radical in outright speed. Due to its design that produces minimal downforce compared to the RXC, it would never be able to keep up around a race track.

Conclusion

The Radical RXC Turbo is one of the fastest street legal machines on sale in the world today. The fact that it comes with an outrageous look and race-ready features is just a bonus.
