Ram ->ke4211 revealed the all-new Rumble Bee concept truck at 13 mile and Woodward during the 2013 Woodward Dream Cruise on August 17th, 2013. The concept was inspired by the Rumble Bee graphics package that was offered for the 2004 and 2005 HEMI-powered Ram 1500 and previews a new competitor for the Ford F-150 Tremor.

Being based on the Ram 1500 R/T, the new Ram 1500 Rumble Bee concept features large air intakes on the hood, a low front spoiler and large wheels on the outside.

This awesome yellow truck, as expected, features a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 powerplant that is certain to push this concept to 60 mph in un-truck-like quickness. Unfortunately, the Rumble Bee package is still a concept, so there are no details on its potential release.

Update 8/19/13: This review has been updated with all of the official details on the Ram 1500 Rumble Bee.

Exterior

Ram sat the the Rumble Bee package on the two-wheel-drive, regular cab Ram 1500, helping keep the curb weight to an absolute minimum. The matte "Drone Yellow" paint job is highlighted by a gloss-black stripe down each side that fades into honeycomb patterns.

Up front, the Rumble Bee features an R/T hood with monstrous, nostril-style air intakes, and black accents on the air intakes, badges and grille, helping add some extra style to this mighty pickup.

Around back, the bed is covered by a tonneau cover that helps keep aerodynamic drag to a minimum. Just like the front, the rear end gets its own touch of black accents, including a black-coated fuel door and dual tailpipes.

Overall, the exterior screams "look at me" like the Rumble Bee packages of yesteryear. But it does so without being too over-the-top about it. Sure, the black-colored fuel filler cap is likely a little too much, but it's not enough to kill or love for the sexy exterior.

Interior

On the inside, the customization continues with sport seats wrapped in black leather and yellow mesh, with yellow and grey contrast stitching. Additionally, you get "Rumble Bee 10th Anniversary" lettering on the sport seats and a set of Ram logos to help add some extra style. This lettering and the Ram logos continue onto the floor mats and door panels, plus the dashboard receives a milled-aluminum plaque with a "10th Anniversary" Rumble Bee logo.

The rest of the interior remains relatively true to the original Ram R/T, but there is one last touch that really sets this truck apart. This is the real -- yeah, we said "real," folks -- amber-encased bee mounted in the center of the rotary gear selector. The bee sits atop a honeycomb background that lights up to make this awesome touch even more dramatic.

Drivetrain, Suspension and Brakes

Under the hood, not too much changes, as the Rumble Bee Concept comes with the Ram 1500 R/T's standard 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 that pipes 395 horsepower and 407 pound-feet of torque through an eight-speed transmission and out to a set of 4.10 gears. This high gearing helps launch the Ram 1500 Rumble Bee to 60 mph in what we estimate to be under 7 seconds, but Ram did not provide official acceleration details.

The only mechanical changes to the Rumble Bee Concept's drivetrain is the addition of Mopar's cat-back exhaust system with two-stage valve control that the driver can activate via a switch under the rotary shifter knob and a Mopar cold-air intake system. There is, however, one visual change under the hood, as Ram installed a black and yellow honeycomb-patterned engine cover to complete the bee theme.

The suspension, on the other hand, gets plenty of updates. It starts off with a King Suspension system that drops the ride height by 2 inches and adds a set of reservoir shocks to help the pickup handle the twist a little better. The final touch is a set of 24-inch, gloss-black Vellano VRH wheels.

Pricing

For now, the Rumble Bee package is simply a concept, but it may become a reality in the future. Sure, it will likely lose the valve-controlled exhaust, and the amber-adhered bee on the shifter in production form, but the rest may well carry onto the Ram 1500 R/T as an appearance package.

Competition

2014 Ford F-150 Tremor

There are a few big differences between the Tremor and the Rumble Bee, and the most obvious is that the Tremor is a reality and the Rumble Bee is simply a concept.

The Tremor features Ford's 3.6-liter EcoBoost V-6 that churns out 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque through a set of 4.10 gears, Unfortunately for Ford, the HEMI V-8 and 4.10 gearing should launch the Ram to 60 mph about a half-second quicker.

Conclusion

The Rumble Bee package is a welcome addition to the Ram 15090 lineup, but we're sure it will not make it into production in its current for,m. With a little nipping and tucking, however, we think it could be a reality and really give the Ford Tremor a competitor on all fronts -- performance and aesthetic.
