  Review

At the Paris Autoshow in 1994, Matra and Renault Sport presented the Espace-F1 to the public. This car is a one-off showstopper, to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Espace (and of Renault in Formula-1).

It has a 3500 cc 40-Valve V10 engine, who produces a massive 800 BHP/ 597 kW. That is 228.6 BHP per liter. The Espace F1 weighs 1300 kg, is 443 cm long and 205 cm wide.

It was based on a V10-powered Williams Formula 1 racing car with an Espace J63 body reinforced with lightweight carbon-fiber instead of the glass fiber of the standard model. The Renault-Williams engine powered it from 0-200 km/h in 6 seconds, and helped by the carbon brakes, it did 0-270 km/h and back to 0 in under 600 meters. This version of the Espace was featured in the driving simulator, Gran Turismo 2.

It is powered by a central rear-mounted RS4 Grand Prix engine, and it is also equipped with F1 rear suspension, a breahtaking carbon body and a 6-speed gearbox. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.896 seconds,it brakes equally spectacularly, slowing from 300 km/h to 70 km/h in just 80 metres. Top speed: well over 300 km/h.
