The French automaker Renault has released a sport tuned version of their popular Clio hatchback called the Clio S as a reminder of the lines success in the early ’90s. The new car is more of an appearance package then a full tilt Renaultsport model, the Clio S has a few white accents to make the little Clio look like it’s ready to hit the track. Starting off with the lower lip insert in the front bumper the Clio S has a matching GT rear spoiler atop the hatch and rides on a set of bespoke 16 inch Polar alloys. The graphics package makes the S pop, offsetting the factory colors like Pearl Black, Capsicum Red and Extreme Blue with a pair of side stripes and an off center strip of vinyl on the roof that combines the checkered flag with the car’s Sport nameplate. On the inside, the Clio gets matching checkers embossed in the seat backs and matching trim on the dash. The driver gets to hold onto a leather wrapped multifunction steering wheel while gazing down at a set of sporty gauges and a colorful LCD navigation display. The new Clio S is available with a variety of economical power plants. The first being a 1.2 Liter 16 valve four cylinder making 75 HP and the top of the line mill being a 1.2 Liter TCe cranking out 100 HP. Don’t fret diesel fans because there is also a 1.5 Liter dCi developing a maximum output of 86 HP. Press release after the jump. Press release While its flagship Renaultsport models continue to raise the hot hatch bar and obliterate their rivals in equal measure, Renault is also seeking to bring the sporty look and feel to the core Clio range with the launch of a new ‘S’ version. Resurrecting the successful Clio S formula from the early 90s, the new three-door versions hark back to the original through their trademark white 16-inch ‘Polar’ alloy wheels. Among the other cosmetic changes, are a white front bumper insert and white ‘GT’ rear spoiler, while to the sides and roof, some optional slightly less subtle white racing stripes catch the eye with an ‘S’ incorporated into each band. Completing the package, are extra tinted rear windows and tailgate for a truly contemporary look. The new entrants are based on the Expression specification, currently only available on five-door. They come with a choice of three responsive and frugal engines, 1.2 16V 75, 1.2 TCe 100 and 1.5 dCi 86, all of which meet Renault’s eco2 criteria. 8 comments: Renault Clio S This is the first time that I heard of Renault. But looking on this car, looks like it got a promise in the world of auto making.
This stylish Renault Clio S really turns my behind around coz’ I really see it as an eye-catching hatchback that eventhough the car performance is on the average level, the style and also the color make it sexy just like a hot women wearing a halter top and a mini skirt.
Since there’s nothing really that special about how it performs, might as well look on the exteriors and the interiors. But the supposed new Clio seems to have failed in both. Even if they are thinking of releasing this beauty as a city car, anyone who are thinking of buying one already have some pre-requisites in mind. And the Clio have failed to meet any of them.
Well one of the reasons its fuel efficient is because it is only equipped with a 1.2 Liter 16 valve four cylinder thus only producing 75 HP. Unlike the VW GTI, it’s a hatchback car that you’re not most likely to use for a long drive. But best for city cars.
197 is much nicer yes. That adventurous front bumper is puke. And what’s the deal with the interior? I thought this was a NEW Clio, the interior looks exactly the same as the old one bar some colour coding. And that’s not to say the predecessor’s interior was exciting or abundant in features.
