A few days after Citroen introduced a special-edition RCZ Coupe to the masses, its French sister from another mother, Renault , introduced its own.
This one, though, has been a yearly tradition for the French automaker (at least since last year) owing to its partnership with Formula One’s Red Bull Racing team.
One of the most distinctive features of the new special-edition Megane is the Crépuscule Blue finish of the car, the same colors adorning the Red Bull RB8. Keeping with the theme of the model, Red Bull Racing graphics adorn the rear and the sides of the limited-edition car. Platinum Grey details on the F1 blade, door handles, door mirror housing and rear lip spoiler, as well as a monochrome laurel on the rear side windows that celebrate the team’s 2012 Constructors’ world title round out the exterior treatment of the Megane RS Red Bull RB8.
Inside, there are more of the same distinctive features, including Red Bull Racing branding on the numbered aluminum sill guards and carpet mats, as well as Renault’s R-Link and R.S. Monitor 2.0. Also inside are Recaro seats trimmed in an all-new fabric/leather combo with Red Bull Racing logos embroidered on the headrests.
As with any Megane RS, this special edition comes with a 265-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that twists out 250 pound-feet of torque. This is enough to get the hatchback up to 62 mph in 6 seconds and up to a top speed of 158 mph.
The model is expected to be sold in 26 countries at a price of €36,000, which is about $46,300 based on current exchange rates.
The Renault Megane RS is a pretty awesome sports hatch that does justice to Renault’s standing as a sneaky-good builder of these things. It certainly looks the part of a rowdy hot hatch, but most importantly, it comes packed with a pretty stout powertrain.
The Megane Renault Sport is powered by a 2.0-liter 16-valve turbocharged petrol engine which boasts maximum power of 265 horsepower at 5,500rpm and peak torque of 250 pound-feet from 3,000rpm.

For the second year in a row, Mégane R.S. will be available in the colours of Red Bull Racing. In true Renault Sport style, this attractive limited edition version packs advanced technology.
The exclusive Crépuscule Blue finish takes its inspiration directly from the race team’s famous colours, while Red Bull Racing graphics at the rear and on the sides are further tell-tale hallmarks of this limited edition car. In addition to its sporty credentials, it stands out as particularly elegant, too, thanks to exterior Platinum Grey details (F1 blade, door handles, door mirror housing and rear lip spoiler) which harmonise splendidly with the striking Crépuscule Blue body colour. Last but not least, a monochrome laurel on the rear side windows celebrates the team’s 2012 Constructors’ world title.
Inside, the new limited edition version comes with a number of exclusive features, including Red Bull Racing branding on the numbered aluminium sill guards and carpet mats. The same logo appears on the head rests of the Recaro seats which are trimmed in a new leather/fabric upholstery.
Looking to break records? Mégane R.S. Red Bull Racing RB8 is shod as standard with the same Bridgestone tyres that helped Mégane Trophy to establish a new lap record for the Nürburgring. These high-performance tyres are fitted to exclusive 19-inch black wheels with grey pin striping.
This limited edition version marks the availability of the in-dash, connected R-Link multimedia tablet for all Mégane R.S.’s. The system’s six functions (navigation, telephony, multimedia, vehicle, systems and R-Link Store applications catalogue) are controlled using either the touch screen display, the voice command function or the joystick situated on the centre console.
Along with R-Link, there is now also the 2.0 version of R.S. Monitor which fans of sporty driving will particularly appreciate. Owners will no longer need to choose between using the navigation or on-board telemetry systems thanks to the TomTom Live navigation system which is incorporated in the R-Link system.
