The new generation Megane made in world debut in 2008 at the Paris Auto Show. Sales started from November 2008. The new Megane is being offered with a choice of two petrol engines and six Diesel engines. There are five different versions on the market: Authentique, Expression, Carminat, Dynamique and Privilège. New Mégane Hatch prices will range from €18,400 to €25,600.
New Renault Mégane exudes a sense of robustness and perceived quality. This impression is heightened by the generous surface area and curvaceous forms of the body panels. Seen from the side, the feature line extends the crease of the slightly prominent front wings rearward to emphasize the car’s broad, solid shoulders. The wide track dimensions (1.55m) ensure that the car sits squarely on the road, and this sense of stability is underlined by the steeply-raked rear screen and, indeed, by the entire rearend design. New Renault Mégane’s proportions, the form of the beltline and the large door panels exude a feeling of protection.
Renault New Mégane’s interior is extensively equipped with practical, comfort-enhancing features. These include combined analogue/digital instruments incorporating a new, easier to read colour-coded cruise control/speed limiter interface. The list continues with a host of equipment normally associated with the next segment up, such as hands-free entry and ignition, automatic locking as the driver walks away from the car, a Carminat Bluetooth® DVD navigation system and a custom-developed audio system (3D Sound by Arkamys®).

New Renault Symbol exudes an elegance that is underpinned by the status-enhancing design of its front end, as well as by its harmonious styling which is worthy of that of a prestigious saloon. Inside, the driver and passengers will appreciate the comfortable, carefully-appointed cabin. The range of sprightly petrol and diesel engine is at the market’s leading edge when it comes to low fuel consumption, while the suspension and running gear have been engineered for comfort and efficiency.
New Renault Symbol is powered by a range of latest-generation engines, all of which combine performance, low fuel consumption and respect for the environment. These powerplants – whether petrol or diesel – are the most fuel efficient of this three-box car’s category and make it truly economical to run. The front end’s distinctive looks point to the vehicle’s outstanding on-road performance and travelling comfort. New Renault Symbol benefits from the same suspension as Clio II which is acclaimed for the quality of the balance it strikes between comfort and roadholding and the quiet ride it delivers.
Both the petrol- and diesel-powered versions of this new vehicle can claim best in class fuel consumption, returning a low 4.3 litres/100km (equivalent to CO2 emissions of 116g/km) with the 1.5 dCi 85hp engine, and 5.9 litres/100km (equivalent to CO2 emissions of 140g/km) with the 1.2 16V 75hp powerplant.

Better than most of your Christmas presents, tis’ the season for new F1 cars. Last week the Ferrari F60 and McLaren MP4-24 were unveiled, and now Renault has brought out its newest track car.
Like the rest of the field, the Renault F1 team will be adding the kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) to its new R29 F1 car. According to Renault, R29 will also will benefit from additional horsepower which was lost when the team took the engine freeze rules more seriously than the opposition. This meant that the cars had to run with less downforce at most of the races and, according to Renault, made the cars less competitive.
Missing French cars yet? This may change your mind.
Renault first unveiled the Megane Trophy at the Paris Auto Show, and now there will a production model that will show up at the Geneva Motor Show. The Renaultsport Megane (Megane RS) will look like a mixture of the Megane coupe and Megane Trophy, likely taking most of the Trophy’s front-end styling.
Although the concept car featured a 3.5-liter V6 making 360 hp, the production RS will be much tamer. Under the hood Renault will likely place the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine from the current Megane R26. The engine should get a 20 hp bump from its current application to raise the total to 250 hp. That should be good for a 0 to 60 mph time of less than six seconds.
According to AutoCar, Renault is preparing three electric vehicles, including a bespoke small car that’s bigger than a Twingo, a battery powered version of the Kangoo and a Megane-based saloon.
First will be a five-seater, with a unique design that won’t be shared with any other cars.
The Megane-based four-door will be revealed in 2011 and the Kangoo a year earlier.
Renault wants its sedan to compete with a 100bhp 1.6-litre petrol car, although the company is keen to emphasize that the electric car’s flexibility between 30 and 70mph will be superior.
“It will be very good in urban situations,’” said the company’s Electric Vehicle Project Director, Serge Yoccoz. Its maximum speed is over 80mph, “and it will be fun to drive.”
Like a teenage drag race, it seems the Camaro has stalled in 3rd while trying to overtake the Challenger. Now it also looks like dad is not going to buy a new clutch for the Camaro.
General Motors was looking for about $10 billion in government aid specifically to help facilitate the merger (acquisition) of Chrysler. Although not officially announced, sources involved with the talks have said that the Bush administration is done coughing up cash for the auto industry.
This means GM is now getting shy about courting Chrysler. The door is now open for the other offer on the table, the twenty percent buyout by the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Unlike the GM buyout, which would likely mean the death of most of Chrysler’s products, annexation into the alliance would likely give Chrysler access to new cars. When Renault took a controlling interest in Nissan in 1999 (it was called an alliance to soften the public’s perception of the companies,) Carlos Ghosn, who’s now CEO of both companies, slashed budgets but also shared technology so that new cars could be quickly built at Nissan.
The new problem is that Nissan may not be healthy enough to buy a stake in Chrysler. Today Nissan cut its profit outlook in half. It has reduced production by 200,000 units this year and will trim 3,500 jobs in the United States, Spain and Japan. Renault is already in debt, so it is certain that it will not be able to pay for Chrysler.
Renault unveiled at the Sao Paolo auto salon from Brazil, the Sand’up Concept based on the Sandero Stepway. The Sand’up is a 2+2 modular model: it can be either a coupe, but can also be converted into a convertible pick-up.
The Sand’up is the perfect car for four-passengers who wants to enjoy a trip into a convertible pick-up. The car sits on 18 inches wheels.
The Concept is powered by a 1.6 liter 16V Hi-Flex engine that delivers 107 hp when run on petrol and 112 hp when working on ethanol. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 10,6 s (petrol) / 10,5 s (ethanol).
Renault launched in France the Clio Estate Exception,a model that combines dynamic performance, looks and safety. Based on the Dynamique equipment level, it comes with 15-inch aluminium alloy wheels, extra-tinted rear glass, part-leather upholstery and cruise control with speed limiter.

After Renault revealed the three-doors Megane at the Paris Auto Show, they are now busy developing a flagship Renaultsport version to replace the outgoing R26 and to compete with the Golf GTI and Focus ST.
Under the hood Renault will place the current R26’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, producing at least 230bhp. It will also be lighter than the current R26 meaning better performances: a 150mph top speed and a 0-60mph time of less than six seconds, plus better economy and emissions.
