Renault Megane RS renderings

After Renault revealed the three-doors Megane at the Paris Auto Show, they are now busy developing a flagship Renaultsport version to replace the outgoing R26 and to compete with the Golf GTI and Focus ST.

Under the hood Renault will place the current R26’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, producing at least 230bhp. It will also be lighter than the current R26 meaning better performances: a 150mph top speed and a 0-60mph time of less than six seconds, plus better economy and emissions.

The new Renault is powered by a 2.0-liter F4 RS engine with 200 hp connected to a six-speed sequential gearbox.

Also, a new suspension system was installed as well as a new set of 17 inch one-piece aluminium alloy wheels. The new Clio Renault Sport R3 Access kit is offered at a pre-tax price of €32,600 or $45,157.

2009 Renault Megane Trophy

Renault Megane Trophy

The third model in Renault’s line-up at the Paris Auto Show is the Mégane Trophy, a concept that takes its inspiration from the lines of new Mégane Coupe.

Under its composite outer skin, new Mégane Trophy features the same mechanicals as the current car, including an FIA-homologated sports-prototype tubular chassis, a mid-rear V6 3.5 24V engine, a semiautomatic gearbox with steering wheel-mounted paddle shift, double wishbone suspension with adjustable dampers and 18-inch wheels and Michelin tires.

A new inlet manifold, which is fed by roof-mounted air-ducts, has taken engine power from 330 to 360hp. Renault claims that the aerodynamic gains and the extra power output of the V6 3.5 24V engine will enable new Mégane Trophy to lap in times similar to those of a Porsche GT3.

To all those who are drooling over this now, remember even if the Trophy does make it to production, Renault is still keeping its hand out of the North American market.

2009 Renault Megane Coupe

Renault unveiled at the Paris Auto Show the production version of the Mégane Coupé Concept unveiled at the Geneva Show in the spring of 2008.

New Renault Mégane Coupe is equally inspired by the passion associated with the automobile. Its extremely dynamic frontal-styling looks feature a grille comprising two outer air-scoops picked out by a satin-finish chrome trim that runs either side of logo, as well as a central air-intake incorporating a mattblack crossbar. The headlamps, which prolong the lines of the two air-scoops, provide the vehicle with a strong, clear personality. The crease lines of the bonnet sweep up the bonnet to the windscreen pillars and continue via the raked windscreen and sloping roofline to produce a particularly dynamic silhouette.

The dCi 85 and dCi 105 engines, which have been widely praised for the performance and driving pleasure they deliver, have been joined by the dCi 90 and the particulate filter-equipped dCi 110. Every one of these engines emits less than 120g of CO2/km (118g/km for dCi 85 et 90, 120g/km for dCi 105 and 110) while the new dCi 130 profits from the dCi range’s most advanced technology in terms of combustion and turbocharging to return CO2 emissions of just 135g/km.

Depending on market, the petrol range available for New Mégane and New Mégane Coupe will comprise the 1.6 16V 110hp, as well as the 2.0 16V 140hp and the TCe 180. The 2.0 16V will be available from launch with a six-speed manual gearbox, while continuously variable transmission will be introduced with this powerplant at a later date. Renault’s latest petrol engine, the TCe 130 will be added to the catalogue in the spring of 2009.

2009 Renault Kangoo be bop

Renault Kangoo be bop

Renault will unveil at the Paris Auto Show the Kangoo "be bop". This is the production car based on the Compact Concept from last year’s Frankfurt Auto Show. The new model is being offered in two-tone color scheme and exclusive interior appointments.

The Kangoo be bop is powered by a choice of two diesels: a 85hp dCi and a 100hp dCi which comes with a particulate filter and drives through a six-speed gearbox. There is also a 105 hp 1.6 16V gasoline unit.

This seems to be Renault’s take on the "urban vehicle". It is the kind of car that is supposed to maximize space without looking like box on wheels. It wants to be sporty and it want to be a van; the question is does it do either well? So is this one of those car that make you happy Renault doesn’t sell to the U.S. anymore, or is this the ultimate surf wagon?

Press release after the jump.
