2011 Rimac Concept One

After being teased for quite some time now, the Rimac Concept One has finally made its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Concept One is not only the proof that "supercar" and "electric" can be used in the same sentence, but it also previews a limited edition model that will arrive in 2013 in a quantity of only 88 units.

Mind blowing as it is to comprehend, Rimac is promising an output that’s unheard of for an electric sports car. Concept One uses a unique powertrain which is divided into four sub-systems, each consisting of one motor, inverter and reduction gearbox. With a total output of 1,088 HP and 2,802 lb/ft of torque, the Concept One will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.8 seconds and comes with an electronically limited top speed of 189 mph.

The Concept One is the work of some of the most famous designers around the world. The carbon-fiber body is designed by Adriano Mudri, while the interior is designed by a team of former Pininfarina employees, led by Mr. Goran Popović.

Exterior and Interior

Rimac Concept One

Rimac Concept One is not only about sportiness, but also about elegance. The body is made from exposed carbon, that not only indicates its production technology and materials, but also help the car to keep a very low weight.

The bodyside features a unique, symmetrical appearing feature that gives the car a strong identity and clear distinction, while the duct is the abstraction of the tie, that is an original Croatian product.

The concept’s interior is the work of the leather-specialists Vilner. They have developed a driver-focused interior, with the cabin tailors designed around the driver, while the high-end infotainment system keeps the driver entertained and informed about the vehicle’s systems.

Concept One uses a unique powertrain divided into the front and rear sub-system, each of them including two symmetrical motor-controller-reduction-gearbox units. This system will control each wheel independently.

This system develops a total of 1,088 HP and 2,802 lb/ft of torque and will sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in 2,8 seconds, while top speed has been limited to 189 mph.

Despite this impressive performance numbers, Concept One has an autonomy of 372 miles.

With its 1,088 HP, Concept One will be a serious, and more economical competitor for the now famousBugatti Veyron. Its true top speed won’t go closer to Veyron’s 253 mph, but lets not forget we are talking about an electric car.

Talking about electric sports car, Audi is developing the R8 E-tron , but their model develops "only" 313 HP and sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4,8 seconds.

vO3vUZ (1): what is your problem? I can read only pure jealous barking fm yr comment. If you are so smart to critisize Rimac, show me any of yr achievements or contribution to electric car development.

Almost all of the features of this car are amazing. From exterior and interior design, and engine as well.

I’m so in love with its classy and so luxurious interior! The interior touch that they use on this, gives the impression of a cozy and a very comfortable feature, and the exterior appearance is absolutely striking either.

the guy has a incredibly wealthy dad and this is his hobby so you can think about how wealthy he is. stop calling him an "automaker". he doesn’t have a single patent of his and the batteries he’s using are probably somebody else’s patent protected technologies. the patent that he claims to have made are not his but of some of his workers. yes, he pays others to think, work and create for him while he runs around the media claiming he is the creator of all of it.

the technology isn’t practical, it’s not new or even his own as he likes to claim all the time. i would be very surprised if he won’t end up sued for using other peoples patent protected technology when he one day when he makes money of the car.
i don’t get it, he’s got a lot of money anyway, this is only his hobby that his dad pays for. it’s pathetic, the guy feeds of other peoples attention because he never had any of his dad’s attention when he was a kid.

all "automakers" that do this kind of marketing and rely on electrical drive die very quickly and i’m pretty sure that’s going to happen with rimac as well. other than a few extremely wealthy sheikhs that already have everything there is no market for this "car". it’s like reinventing the spoon and then claiming you invented it first. it can only fail and it’s pathetic.

Features of this car is impressive. It seems that it really has something to be say.. Frankfurt Motor Show seems like worth awaiting for. Can’t wait to see this car in real.. I’m starting to figure out its looks and I’m excited to see this.

I’m not familiar with Rimac. By the way, I can say that the car is thin and small even if it is covered. Well, it is the first time that I heard an electric super car that can deliver 1000+ HP. I think it is because of the idea of dividing the batteries and the gearbox of the car and is independent with each other.

yeah, the introduction for these car is very interesting and exciting. Well, there are a lot of car that will be revealed in the Frankfurt Motor Sport but I think the Concept One really caught my attention. Well, I really don’t want to expect too much but I’m curious on this car.

This car manufacturer sounds new to me. I do hope that when Rimac remove the cover of the Concept One, everyone will admire its awesomeness. Well, I really don’t want to disappoint on this one since its introduction is quite drooling.
