2012 Rolls Royce Ghost Extended Wheelbase

Rolls Royce has made history with the unveiling of the new Ghost Extended Wheelbase at the Shanghai Auto Show. This is the first time the company has chosen China as a world debut venue, setting aside any doubts that the country is moving on up in the automotive segment. Upon unveiling the new car, CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös said, "This latest Rolls-Royce is a model of outstanding design and unrivaled luxury. Ghost Extended Wheelbase delivers all the poise and dynamism enjoyed by discerning Ghost owners, with the indulgent experience of an extended wheelbase car. It is the very best of both worlds."

Compared to a standard Ghost model, the new Extended Wheelbase version features a 170 mm increase in its wheelbase. This extension is also evident in the back seat where the wheelbase enlargement has led to an increase in the rear cabin space. The new version has also received a panoramic sunroof.

Under the hood, Rolls Royce has kept the usual 6.6 liter twin turbo charged V12 engine that delivers a total of 563hp and 575 lbs-ft of torque at just 1,500rpm. The extra dimension hasn’t diminished the rate the Ghost sprints to 60 mph, so expect the same five seconds time.

The new Rolls Royce Ghost Extended Wheelbase will be available in only limited numbers for 2011 until full production begins in 2012.

It looks so simple for a limousine vehicle and honestly; I really didn’t expect it to be that kind of vehicle! Moreover, I’m very amazed with how luxury it is on its interior!

Just, one thing I don’t like with Rolls Royce vehicle is the design of their front grille! It looks so ordinary for a luxury car. Anyway, it is great to know that they were using a V12 engine, which is truly impressive about it.

Ive seen this model car on some old movie back 1980 or 90s something not very sure with the year, but I’m sure this one already on the history, very defined though the plain color of it gave a classy look to the car.

I will not consider this one as a car. It looks rodent and lame for a car. Now I know that the signature design of Roll Royce is the rectangular design in the front part. I’d rather choose its competitors.

I’m so confused with the name, why is it called ghost? With all the features and look of the car, it’s nice.

Well, I have seen the interior of this car and I would say that Cadillac car look better than this. Although, it has an amazing performance, still a good interior makes a huge difference.

I like the interior image concept of Rolls Royce Ghost But its kind of bit old version of the luxury car that it supposed to be not appropriate for this new generation. I expect to get the latest version on it.

I agree. Rolls Royce is like a usable hybrid in the past years. That’s made this thing waste less. BTW, a long wheel base version is really good for a Roll Royce car!

I think they juts wasted the v12 technology that was used in this car. It would be better if they have use the v8 because this car doesn’t need a lot of speed.

Probably, the part that’s so luxurious here is the interior. Rolls Royce is, shall we say, quite notorious for decking out all kinds of luxuries for the interior of their cars.

I’m not really a fan of luxury cars that has a vintage accent. I really don’t get where in the part of this car is so luxurious.

The executives will certainly love the looks on this one. That front alone already tells that whoever rides this one is not going to be any small fry.
