Porsche tuning firm extraordinaire, RUF, is one of the best in the business at what it does. So much so, that they produce some of the fastest and most powerful Porsche upgrades on the planet.
The latest model of their Cayman-based CTR 3 is a perfect example of that. Already boasting two previous models, the CTR 3 is the epitome of how a Porsche Cayman should be tuned up. On its own, the German sports car is already capable of producing an output of 265 horsepower, thanks to a 2.9-liter inline-six engine, but RUF have put their talents to good use to give the Cayman the proper juicing up. This was done by completely redesigning the car’s look and replacing the existing engine with a more powerful 3.8-liter flat-six cylinder engine with a staggering output of 750 horsepower.
Just in case your math is slow, that’s more than twice the ponies the standard Cayman has. Just goes to show how these guys are one of the best at what they do.

There’s no question that RUF is probably one of the most accomplished Porsche tuners this side of the solar system. When these guys flex their tuning muscles and get to work, it’s a safe bet that the tuning world will take notice.
So when RUF introduced their latest tuning work on the Porsche 911 Turbo at the Geneva Motor Show, a lot of people caught notice. And once again, the German automaker delivered the goods. Lots of it.
As the 12th generation of the tuning company’s RUF-tuned 911 Turbos, the RT12 R has been fitted with aerodynamic and performance upgrades that bumps the engine output all the way up to levels reserved only for the most super of supercars.
And if we do say so ourselves, the three-tone German flag-inspired paint finish adds a nice touch of sparkle - and patriotism, too - to the powerhouse race car.

We can imagine that car tuners, being car fanatics themselves, always have little projects in the back of their heads of cars they would like to recreate with a modern twist. They have the tools and the knowledge, so the build is just a matter of time and demand. Expert Porsche tuners, RUF, have delved into that part of their cranium and have pulled out the new RUF Roadster based on the 1967 Porsche Targa.
The new RUF Roadster has an aerodynamically optimized, lower rear window and two extremely light, removable roof pieces made of carbon fiber. The "soft" rear window is made of a three-layer polyglass and an electric engine keeps the rear window tight.
Under the hood RUF provided a choice of two engines: a 400 HP six cylinder boxer engine or a turbo with 560 HP. These engines will be mated to either a a six speed gear box or a dual clutch gearbox with four-wheel drive available as an option.
The whole package is finished by 19" forged aluminum wheels in a five-spoke design.
The RUF Roadster will be built in a limited number in 2011 and will be sold for Euro 195.000 (or $270,000 at the current exchange rates).

In 2008 Ruf was unveiling the eRUF concept - a vehicle built under the "Emotion without Emission" logo. It the first prototype to lead the technical development away from the combustion engine. Actually, for the first time an electric motor is being used which comes to fitting into the Ruf
model range. But this was just an experimental vehicle, as one year later, at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show Ruf brought the eRUF Greenster - a model that will go on sale by the end of 2010.
The eRuf Greenster features an electric drive train systems developed by Siemens. It is a central motor with a power output of 270 kW and 950 Nm of torque, but the following version will be produced as a small series with Ruf as a double-motor concept with the innovative integral eDrive. As such, the eRUF will be the world’s first electric vehicle fitted with a bi-directional network connection.
The eRUF Greenster has an autonomy of 250 kilometers (or 320 with an enlarged battery block). It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in approx. 5 seconds and can hit a top speed of 155 mph.

A brief history lesson: Did you know that RUF’s first RGT model was based on the Porsche 996 and that it was launched a decade ago? If you did know that, then you probably also know that ten years later - that’s this year - RUF has announced the next generation of RGT - the RGT-8 - a tuning kit based on the new Porsche 911.
Production will begin in 2011.
Powered by a 4.5-liter V8 engine that has been tuned to deliver 550bhp at 8500rpm and 500Nm of torque at 5400rpm with its power sent through a 6-speed gearbox with shortened gear shift movement to the rear axle, the RGT-8 is, in one word, spectacular.
Completing RUF’s new tuning kit are special front fenders, nose and dashboard components, as well as a set of specially-designed 19-inch RUF forged alloy wheels.
