Saab today revealed a new image of the upcoming concept that give us a better idea of what to expect in Geneva.
As previously reported, Saab will unveil 9-1X Concept at the Geneva Motor Show. The 9-1X is the preview version of the 2010 Saab 9-1, a model that will compete with the BMW 1-Series, Audi A3 and Volvo C30 models. It will be based on the Opel Astra architecture, with engine options including a 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol units.
Saab today revealed the first teaser image of the concept on its official site.
Even if we can’t tell much from the teaser image, the Aero-X inspiration is obvious. More details will follow.
General Motors will unveil at the Geneva Motor Show an "entirely new concept car", called 9-1X. The concept will be a preview version of the upcoming Saab 9-1. The future Saab will be a Mini Cooper competitor designed with a conventional, vertical B-pillar. The 9-1 will be a three-door or a five-door hatchback.
The Saab 9-1X is expected to incorporate styling cues from the Saab Aero X concept.
According to Motor Trend, the model needs to be priced between $20,000 and $25,000 to turn a profit.
Even if Saab did not released any info or official images, we can tell that the 9-1 will be built on the Opel Astra platform and is the preview version of a model that comes to compete with BMW 1 series, Volkswagen Golf and Volvo C30.
As any other concept or model released by Saab lately, the 9-1’s design will be inspired by the Saab Aero-X Concept.
Under the hood there will be a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine, but a hybrid engine will also be offered.
Now that Volvo had launched their small car in the model pallette, the C30, the second car brand from Sweden, Saab, is preparing an answer. The 9-1. The design direction Saab will be heading in, was presented with the Aero X concept. The 9-1 features many of those design clues.
In an interview with Automobilwoche, General Motors confirmed that the company is working on two new hybrid models: the Saturn Astra and the Saab 9-1. Both will be unveiled sometime in 2010.
A while ago we reported that Saab will use design cues from the Saab Aero-X Concept into a production version car. Now, the Teknikens Varld magazine put this news into fact and got the first impression over the next 2010 Saab 9-1.
